They subsequently discovered the smallest motherboard they said they had ever seen. Weighing just one gram, it packs an ARM processor, Bluetooth Smart radio and more, and folds in half to fit inside the pencil's thin body.
Also small is the li-ion battery, which has a tube shape and a capacity of 0,329 Wh, which is 5 percent of what the iPhone 6S has. Nevertheless, the Pencil is supposed to last 12 hours, and in 15 seconds the charger is ready to last another 30 minutes.
iFixit also discovered several pressure sensors and other elements that help with pressure detection. A small metal plate in the tip of the pen, connecting some transmitters, is apparently also used to better determine the angle and location in relation to the display.
Since the technicians had to force their way into the pencil, the Apple Pencil received the lowest grade on the repairability scale from 1 to 10. Only the tip and the cap under which the Lightning is hidden are replaceable, but the rest is non-disassembleable, and if, for example, the flashlight goes out, the whole piece has to be replaced.
Although the Pencil is a great piece of hardware, and above all an excellent accessory for the iPad Pro, Apple seems to have major problems with its production. That's why it has so far only reached selected customers and others they may have to wait until the end of the year, before Apple manages to satisfy the demand.
I can already see how a lot of people will superficially shout that it is just "overpriced crap" just because it was made by "epl" and similar crap, that a normal stylus is enough.
