Foreign server Loup Ventures came up with theirs annual analysis the functioning of Apple Pay and published quite interesting results. Based on global data, it has been shown that the growth of this payment service is definitely not slow, and if the same trend is maintained for at least two to three years, the service will manage to establish itself in the global market. That would be good news for us as well, because here too we are impatiently waiting for the moment when the introduction of Apple Pay will start to be talked about in the Czech Republic as well. The number of neighboring countries where this payment service does not officially work is decreasing year by year...
But back to the Loup Ventures analysis. According to their data, last year Apple Pay was used by 127 million users worldwide. The year before, this number reached the 62 million mark, a year-on-year increase of more than 100%. If we take into account the fact that there are less than 800 million active iPhones in the world, Apple Pay is used by 16% of their users. Of this 16%, 5% are users from the US and 11% from the rest of the world. If we convert the percentages to specific numbers of users, there are 38 million people actively using the service in the US, and 89 million in the rest of the world.
As the number of active users grows, so does the network of banking institutions that support this payment method. Currently, it should be more than 2 banks and other financial companies. This number increased by 700% from the previous year. A very important figure also refers to the constantly increasing support from traders. This is critical to the success of the entire platform, and merchants seem to have no problem accepting this payment method.
Apple Pay is thus a relatively common service in the US and Western Europe. Towards the end of last year, information appeared that the service would also be officially launched in Poland this year. We can only speculate whether something similar is planned in the near future in our country as well. There is still no Apple Pay in neighboring Germany either, in this case it is also rather surprising, given the position and size of the market there. Maybe we will get some information this year. Apple Pay has been operating since 2014 and is currently available in twenty-two countries around the world.

Four years after its release, almost no country in Europe has it.. that doesn't really sound like a huge speed to me.
I would beg to differ. The number of potential users at 100% penetration (obviously unrealistic), but for an idea:
Great Britain - 65,6 million inhabitants
Switzerland - 8,4 million inhabitants
France - 66,9 million inhabitants
Russia - 144,3 million inhabitants
Spain - 49 million inhabitants
Ireland - 4,8 million inhabitants
Italy – 60,6 million inhabitants
Denmark - 5,7 million inhabitants
Finland - 5,5 million inhabitants
Sweden - 9,9 million inhabitants
With a total population of 742,25 million in Europe, the service is available for 420,7 million inhabitants, which is 56,7% of all the inhabitants in Europe.
That doesn't sound like almost any country to me, and when compared to the potential number of inhabitants, your statement is even more weak. For 4 years of the service's operation, it's quite a decent progress.
But that is of absolutely no use to us here :) Neither the Czech Republic nor any of its neighbors will enjoy Apple Pay, and I would really like to use it.
