Apple Pay is coming to Germany. The entry of the payment service into the German market was announced this morning by the local banking institutions, which were later joined by Apple itself. The company has already made specific information available on its official website section, where he informs about the support of Apple Pay by German banks and shops, which should arrive very soon.

After Poland, Germany thus becomes the second neighboring country of the Czech Republic to support the payment service from Apple. Plans to launch Apple Pay in the German market were first announced by Tim Cook in July during the financial results announcement, saying that the service could be expected to enter by the end of this year.

Clients of several German banks including Bunq, HVB, Edenred, Fidor Bank and Hanseatic Bank will be able to pay with iPhone and Apple Watch. The list also includes the popular boon., which allows you to set up a virtual debit card from the comfort of your home and has also become popular with Czech users who wanted to try Apple Pay first. The most widespread card issuers such as Visa, Mastercard, Maestro or American Express are also supported.

Germans will be able to pay with Apple Pay not only in physical stores, but also in applications and e-shops. These include, for example, Zara, Adidas, Booking, Flixbus and many others. Contactless payments in stores will then be able to be used basically anywhere that has a supported payment terminal.

Good news for the Czech Republic

The entry of Apple Pay into the German market is only positive for the Czech Republic. Not only is the service expanding towards us, but above all it means that it should be available here soon. According to recent information because Apple concentrated on coming to Germany and thus postponed the support of the service on the domestic market. Now, however, the Californian company should focus on Czech banks, which are intensively testing Apple Pay and should get the green light at the beginning of next year, specifically at the turn of January and February.
