Apple Pay is heading to our next neighbor, namely Germany. The fact was officially announced by Tim Cook last week, saying that the payment service will be launched in the country by the end of this year. However, the Czech Republic is still waiting for the arrival of Apple Pay, despite several clues from recent times and also the fact that contactless payments are a major power in Europe.

There has been speculation about the arrival of Apple Pay in Germany for many months, mainly thanks to several hints that arose during the establishment of cooperation between Apple and the banking institutions there. For the Californian giant, the amount of fees that arise from each payment made is important. Banks, on the other hand, are interested in keeping the mentioned fee as low as possible.

Cook did not reveal when exactly the apple payment service will come to Germany. This could potentially happen together with the release of the new iOS 12 in the second half of September. It is also a question of which German banks will offer Apple Pay at launch.

The official confirmation of Apple Pay's entry into the German market is, in a way, bad news for Czech users. It seems that Apple's payment service will not look into the Czech Republic any time soon, despite hints from Moneta Money Bank. She in her own report to investors This February, it says that it plans to launch contactless payments for iOS by the end of the second quarter of the year. Although the deadline could not be met, other indications suggested that the launch could happen in August. But if that were indeed the case, Apple would most likely confirm the information along with the announcement for Germany. So we can only hope that Apple Pay for the Czech market will be confirmed at the September conference.

Apple Pay is currently available in more than 20 countries around the world, including, for example, neighboring Poland. Few months ago she visited service even to Ukraine, where it is supported by only one bank – PrivatBank. According to the latest speculations, the residents of Austria could soon be able to enjoy paying with an iPhone.
