The Apple Pay service has been operating in the Czech Republic for more than two years. At the beginning, only a handful of banks and financial institutions, but over time, the support of the service has grown to a full extent. This is also for the enormous success of users who can use it with iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch and Mac computers. Learn how to set up Apple Pay on iPhone. If you want to use Apple Pay with multiple devices, you must add the card or cards to each of them. This guide deals specifically with iPhones, where you can add up to 8 cards to iPhone 8/12 Plus and later, and up to 8 cards to older models.

How to set up Apple Pay on iPhone? There are two ways 

If you activate a new iPhone and do not add a card to Apple Pay right away when initially setting up the device, then you will find in Settings, now under your name, offer Finish setting up your iPhone. There may be more offers here, but you will also find a direct link to Set up Apple Pay. If you choose it, it's exactly the same process you'd do any other time through the Wallet app and menu Start using Apple Pay or the "+" symbol.

The system automatically guides you to what to do. Card data you can enter it manually, or you can scan it with your iPhone's camera. Follow the displayed procedure to add a new card. However, in order to add the card to Wallet, you may need to download the app of the bank or card issuer.

Then tap on Další. The bank or card issuer will verify the information and decide if you can use the card with Apple Pay. If the bank or card issuer needs more information to verify the card, they will ask you for it. Once you have the required information, return to Wallet and tap your card. Once the bank or issuer has verified the card, tap Další. Then already you can start using Apple Pay.

When Apple Pay has problems 

If you can't add a card for use with Apple Pay to Wallet, check your Apple Pay status on the information page about the status of Apple systems. If there is a problem listed here, try adding the card later after it is removed.

But if the service works without problems, try the following procedure to add the card to the Wallet: 

  • See if you're in a country or region where Apple Pay is supported. If you do not enter a card in the Czech Republic but, for example, a country where the service is not supported, you will not be able to add the card. You can find a list of supported countries on Apple's support pages. 
  • Check that the card you're adding is supported and comes from a participating issuer. You can find the list again at the stands Apple support. 
  • Restart your iPhone, if an update to a newer iOS version is available, install it. 
  • If you don't see the "+" button after opening the Wallet app, your device may be set to the wrong region. Open it Settings and tap on In general. choose Language and area and then Area. Select your area and click on Done. 
  • If you've tried all of the above and still can't add the card, ask your bank or card issuer for help.
