Apple started 2020 by announcing record sales in the App Store, as well as the arrival of the Apple TV app on other companies' TVs. But the newest news will please those who found the iPhone 11 under the tree and its Night Mode revealed the artistic spirit in them.

Apple has announced a new contest running until January 29, in which users can share their night photos taken using the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max online. A professional jury made up of photographers and experts from the US, Europe and Asia will decide which photos are the best, but we will also find Apple employees including Phil Schiller, the company's marketing director. He is a self-described enthusiast who helped Apple improve the photographic technology of the iPhone.

The company has also published some tips for making the best use of Night Mode on supported phones. The mode is activated automatically in low light conditions. You can tell if it is activated by the yellow mode icon in the Camera application. The mode also determines the shooting length according to the scene being shot and displays this time by the icon. The scanning length can be changed using the slider. It is also recommended to use a tripod for the best possible result.

Photographers who wish to participate in the competition must share their photos via Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #ShotoniPhone and #NightmodeChallenge. Users on Weibo can use the hashtags #ShotoniPhone# and #NightmodeChallenge# there.

Participants can also share photos directly with the company by emailing shotoniphone@apple.com. In such a case, however, the photo must be named in the format firstname_lastname_nightmode_phonemodel. The competition starts on January 8th at 9:01 AM ET and ends on January 29th at 8:59 AM ET. Only persons over 18 years of age, excluding Apple employees and their immediate family members, may participate in the contest.

Apple also prohibits photos from containing violent, obscene or sexually explicit content. Nudity or photographs that would violate foreign copyrights are also prohibited. Winning photos will be published on the company's website and Instagram @apple in March/March of this year, and Apple reserves the right to use these photos for commercial purposes, on billboards, in Apple Stores or at exhibitions.
