The opening keynote to kick off WWDC is scheduled for today at 19 p.m. our time. But it turned out that she was not supposed to be the only model that the company should release to the world today. The Apple Music service announced a special event focused on Spatial Audio, i.e. spatial sound, which was supposed to take place immediately after the keynote speech, i.e. at 21 p.m. our time. But the event was soon cancelled.

Apple announced the event in the form of a video within its Apple Music service. It was first noticed by users of the social network Twitter, where they also shared it. The video was simple and basically just referred to the date June 7th and the time 12:00pm PT, 21pm in our case, while mentioning the introduction of the Spatial Audio service.

Surround sound and lossless listening quality today?

Apple announced support for surround sound along with lossless listening within Apple Music last month, saying it would be available during June. This is, of course, for the reason that they have to come up with new operating systems that will contain the news. Even though today we have to wait for the presentation of the new operating systems of all Apple platforms, they will not be available until the fall of this year. But maybe Apple will just mention the date when its music news will be available to the general public.

The original link in Apple Music looked as if the company wanted to hold one more event focused on the already introduced news in Apple Music. But since the link is no longer active when Apple removed it, it is more likely that it came to light rather inadvertently and that it is more just information for Apple Music subscribers that they can use the news from the specified date.

3rd generation AirPods, wired headphones or just a codec?

It can thus be said that Apple will certainly not avoid surround sound and lossless listening in its opening remarks at WWDC, even though it has already presented everything in the form of a press release earlier. On the contrary, he could follow it up with a given accessory in the form of a new generation of AirPods headphones, similar to what he did in the case of the Find service, which he also introduced before the AirTag itself.

What the 3rd generation AirPods could look like

Apple promises to work with artists and labels to add new versions of their tracks to provide as much content as possible for the Spatial Audio experience. The surround sound feature will be supported on all AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip, as well as built-in speakers in the latest versions of iPhones, iPads and Macs. In the case of lossless sound, the situation is different, because there must naturally be some losses. But whether Apple will solve this and show us its solution in the evening is a question.

Perhaps he will decide that the time may not really be as wireless as he originally thought, and introduce wired headphones allowing lossless listening from Apple Music. Or introduce a revolutionary codec. Or, for that matter, nothing and it will remain only a dry statement. But there is certainly hope.
