Every year, Interbrand publishes list, on which the hundred most valuable companies in the world are located. The number one position in this ranking has not changed for five years, as it has been ruled by Apple since 2012, with a significant lead over the second place, and a huge jump compared to others further down the list. Of the companies in the TOP 10, Apple has grown the least over the past year, but even that was enough for the company to maintain its lead.

Interbrand placed Apple on the first place mainly because they estimated the value of the company at 184 billion dollars. In second place was Google, which was valued at $141,7 billion. Microsoft ($80 billion), Coca Cola ($70 billion) followed with a big jump, and Amazon rounded out the top five with a value of $65 billion. Just for the record, in last place is Lenovo with a value of $4 billion.

In terms of growth or decline, Apple improved by a weak three percent. IN ranking however, there are jumpers who have even improved by tens of percent year-on-year. An example can be the company Amazon, which ranked fifth and improved by 29% compared to last year. Facebook fared even better, finishing eighth, but with a value growth of 48%. This was by far the best result among the ranked participants. On the contrary, the biggest loser was Hewlett Packard, which lost 19%.

The methodology for measuring the value of individual companies may not completely correspond to the real situation. Analysts from Interbrand have their own methods by which they measure individual companies. That's why $184 billion may seem low when there's been talk in recent months that Apple could become the first company in the world to be valued at a trillion dollars.
