Apple succeeded in another marketing trick in the Czech Republic. He didn't advertise anywhere, yet a few hours after launching his online store, almost everyone knew about him - and not just from the apple community. Silent mail is simply still the fastest source of information.
I found out about the launch on Monday morning, from our tipster. The media representatives are silent on our questions, the Czech branch of Apple itself is not even worth asking. She is silent on principle. Still, creating a mysterious impression is somewhat comical. On the one hand, the official places do not provide information, and in the meantime, Apple sends out advertising emails about the launch of the official Apple Online Store! Here, the left hand probably doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
I offer you my perspective, impressions and some answers to questions that have not yet been satisfactorily answered.
Czechs are not the Czech Republic
Welcome Hello, Czech Republic! on the opening page, although it tears my eyes and ears, I personally would rather choose the expression Hello, Czech Republic! There are more minor flaws and typos on the pages.
Right on the front page, in the left column, it's everywhere Buy (Mac, iPod...) until it suddenly appears Shop iPhone.
A few days after the launch of the e-shop, some pages were in English, for example sections Contact, quite an important site Returns and Refunds was not available at all. It reminded me a bit of the time when the apple.cz domain was ruled by CDS, later renamed Apcom. However, Apple removed the above-mentioned flaws within a few days.
Want to order just the iPhone case or cable or iPod shuffle individually? If your order did not exceed the amount of CZK 2 including VAT, you should correctly pay for delivery. But your order says Free Delivery. Apple does not charge you for shipping, they are probably generous. Or you will be surprised when the package arrives and the postage is added. (Note: After the closing of the article, I found out that even the error in paying or not paying the postage has already been removed.)
The delivery time is six days, even if the goods are in stock. But this is not a Czech peculiarity, it takes the same time for the German Online Store.
How many years is the warranty?
On the Apple website in the section Sales and Refund Policy is explicitly stated in point 10. One (1) year limited warranty and statutory consumer rights in the Czech Republic. This caused a great wave of emotions because many did not read up to point 10.3. Here, the possibility of a two-year warranty is admitted with somewhat twisted legal language. However, since I am not adept at interpreting the paragraphs, I asked the lawyer Mgr. Jiří Buchvaldek for expression and interpretation.
It looks like they distribute and invoice HW with a Czech VAT number (see http://store.apple.com/cz-smb/help/payments). “What rate of VAT will be charged? Apple Store purchases are subject to VAT at your country's rate. The registration number of the VAT payer listed on the invoices for the supplier is registered in the Czech Republic." In the footer of the page, it states: Prices are inclusive of VAT (20%), but do not include delivery charges (unless otherwise stated). As VAT is charged in the country from which Apple Sales International supplies its products, which is the Republic of Ireland, the rate of VAT on electronic downloads of software or other Apple products which are classified as services under VAT laws is , set at 21%. The order form displays the VAT of the products selected by you. If they invoice and deliver HW with a Czech VAT number (i.e. through a Czech entity or an organizational component of a foreign person), they should, in my opinion, always comply with the legal guarantee according to § 620 of the Civil Code for sales in a store. With regard to conflicting European standards, they should provide a statutory warranty of 24 months even if they sell with an Irish registration number, or through an Irish company, as it is more advantageous for consumers in the Czech Republic. However, this ONLY applies to sales to the end consumer - a non-entrepreneur.
When I inquired about the free infoline (800 701 391), the operator told me that Apple provides legal two-year warranty.
What is the offer
The Apple Online Store offers a regular assortment comparable to other stores in other countries. But there is, for example, the option of purchasing a three-year warranty AppleCare or section Special Deals with the option to buy Refurbished Apple products at a lower price than new. It seems strange to me that it is not yet possible to buy an Apple TV in the Czech e-shop.
It's not bad, it could be better
Customers will be pleased with the lower prices in the Apple Online Store, especially for the iPhone, which is even cheaper by several hundred crowns than in the neighboring German e-shop. Other products are at the same price level, and the differences at the present time are at most in the order of one hundred crowns. Let's hope that in a very short time it will be possible to eliminate other minor shortcomings and unfinished business.
In my opinion, Apple TV is not sold because iTunes is not supported in the Czech Republic, otherwise Apple TV in the Czech Republic is only available for mirroring with an iPad with iOS 5;)
Guilds are not the Czech Republic, you're right, because it's just a PIG!!
Apart from iPhones, iStyle already offers exactly the same prices as the Apple Online Store
Somehow I didn't understand why the Czech Republic should be used instead of Good day, Czech Republic. Can the author explain? If I remember the geography, Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia are only part of the Czech Republic aka the Czech Republic ;)
And why couldn't the slogan be: Hello, Czech Republic!
This is a matter of stylistics (not everything is just grammar or spelling): the Czech Republic is very formal, that's why the Czech Republic (and that's why e.g. Witaj, Poland!). It is thought out and well targeted.
After all, if you had noticed that a similar event took place on the same day in neighboring countries, you would have realized it and not had to play that embarrassing left-wing song.
Mr. Krč, that leftist - did you want to insult me?
Mr. Krč, that leftist - did you want to insult me?

No way, just to announce that the publicly declared hatred of the Czech Republic is highly politically engaged and targeted at the left spectrum (language law repeatedly enforced by the communists). So one should take this into account if he sneaks his personal manifestation into the article - about something de facto different. Readers can associate him with a similar political trend - even against his will and conviction.
That's right, and the Czech Republic is a literary country!
I don't understand the remark about Bohemia and the Czech Republic. The most correct name would of course be the Czech Republic, as the Czech Republic is not an official abbreviation. But Bohemia is only one of the three territories of the Czech Republic. This expression is on the same level as Moravia or Silesia. I think that the opening page is both linguistically and graphically fine.
Czech Republic??? It doesn't exist!
In my opinion, dealing with the Czech Republic/Bohemia is completely unnecessary. Germany is also the Federal Republic of Germany and not just Germany... I would have expected a more meaningful article on this server.
In my opinion, Apple TV is not officially sold in our country due to the absence of the iTunes store. Because then it's pretty much useless without JB, but that's my opinion.
I have an Apple TV2 and I use it every day, I conveniently play all the photos I have in my iMac, videos and music from iTunes on the TV. The fact that the rental company doesn't work doesn't bother me much, and I really have no idea what JB would be.
to install XMBC, then you can watch, for example, the video archive of television – nova, prima, ct, but also the Slovak markiza, joj, etc.
I also called their line and they told me that there is a lot of nice information about it and that the normal 2-year warranty applies. The first year AppleCare also applies, and the second year it only applies if I have it confirmed by the service. So I hope it IS! If that were the case, do you know if it would also apply to entrepreneurs? The author mentions a non-entrepreneur here, and I would like to buy something from them without VAT
I ordered an iPhone on Wednesday evening and it was delivered on Friday morning. it works.
Ip4 is great, but it is not very reasonable to buy it a few days before the introduction of ip5!
Thanks for the post. One thing I don't understand is why you are trying to find errors on the whole run. After all, even at Apple, people make mistakes, so some typos or bad translations can be removed over time.
@Jan cerny – thanks, Honzo, for the practical test. It works and that's the important thing.
I'm curious how companies like iStyle, Qstore, etc. will react to this.
I personally am glad that this service exists. I would be even better if iTunes was in the Czech Republic.
Do you have any ideas on how to make it happen, I would be quite involved.
Good luck with Apple :-) I have an "apple ego" (source: seller in Alga, when I asked if the printer is compatible with Mac).
"One thing I don't understand is why you're trying to fault the entire launch."
Don't be angry, I'm not looking for the mistakes, but they're just there and they really jump out at me. And maybe someone at Apple will read about these flaws and fix them.
1/ Apple people are not doing the first such e-commerce. That's why I was quite surprised that he couldn't add postage.
2/ An e-shop of these dimensions is not a matter of days or weeks, but rather of months. It is usually tested after programming.
3/ My small praise of Apple probably escaped your notice, but I acknowledge with gratitude that they managed to fix some errors in two to three days after launch. If I think back to a time three or more years ago, repairs took months or never arrived.
My goal was not to write a celebratory, but rather an objective article. And I'm also glad that the Apple Online Store is here FINALLY heh!
"I would even prefer if iTunes was in the Czech Republic."
It's the last step. Unfortunately, it's not just about Apple, there's the Copyright Association (OSA), small and large publishers, multinational companies...
The author is probably a stupid snob. The Czech Republic is correct. Maybe some people with a lower grade in geography don't know that the Czech Republic consists of Bohemia and Moravia. Maybe for these people, our republic should be called CMR, so that they don't forget to look at the atlas from time to time.
I can't, I teach, the Slezans would tell you.
Thanks for the response to Bohemia/Czech Republic/Czech Republic.
For you, as a smart Czech, I preferred to reformulate and expand on my idea. You will surely understand her now. I don't like the term Czechia, I would personally prefer to use the Czech Republic.
Yes, the Czech Republic is correct, but how many companies use the combination, company name + Czech Republic? For example, 3M Česko, spol. s ro, but in this form it is rather an exception. But I know representatives of companies such as T-Mobile, Vodafone, Microsoft, Apple, and they use the form company + Czech Republic.
The communists tried to ban the Czech Republic in the parliament. Either we are subject to emotions, or we know that Bohemia is something else than the Czech Republic and that we do not have a more suitable abbreviated name for the state. The author should not politico-linguistic dilettante, but continue to do the topic that he knows very well: Apple.
Slovakia still doesn't have its own E-Shop, and you also solve problems like Bohemia/Czech Republic here :D
I don't like the term "Czech Republic" either, but unfortunately it is correct. Just as we use the terms Germany or Poland, our country is simply the Czech Republic. I think it's better than writing the full official name of the state there. But it's pointless to argue about it here, it will probably only be about personal opinions and feelings. Moreover, this appeal will disappear from here in time and there will be peace.
As for Apple TV - anyone who has it knows that it has its own meaning here, too. Then the cleverness of others about its insignificance loses its meaning. I myself use a first generation ATV with 160 GB HDD and I am satisfied, it does me a great service. And due to the US iTunes account, I also have access to all iTunes multimedia content and occasionally rent a movie. It works great.
Everyone knows that this is not the Czech Republic but CEZko :)))
So it should have been:
"Good day, Cezko, where is there any vzminny?"
Well, you made it clear :) what you noticed is that you can open the Czech language at home for free :) The Czech Republic is not very nice, but I'm getting used to it and it's really the first time and the author has hit the nail on the head. Rather, I was also expecting some practical experience. At least the warranty is explained.
Does anyone have experience with how much (or not) the notified delivery time of MB Air is? Rikaji 3 days - what is the reality? I ordered it in Germany 2 months ago and I'm still waiting!
Ich muss auch here in Selb 8 Wochen auf MB Air warten. Es ist ganz normal bei diesem Gerat.
I bought it from us and have had it for a long time. And actually three times, because the first two had a problem within a week and they had to replace them with new ones. I wouldn't take it from Germany because of the keyboard. And now I see that it paid off - here they would only try to fix the MBAs from Germany, but the locals were heard piece by piece (I only had to wait for the third one).
Another example of this author's embarrassing output. How can someone who has problems with basic grammar and stylistics even have the audacity to try - moreover, completely wrongly - to argue against the term Czechia. This is simply obtuseness indicating the minimal perspective and low education of the author.
The fact that you can only see errors can give a "good analytical impression" on the one hand, but the entire service continues to improve day by day, and Apple Czech Republic itself has already issued a statement that it will continue to eliminate deficiencies on the fly. And you know what I'll tell you, dear sir, before you start spewing the crap about the service being launched in full fine-tuned guise? Above all, as a customer, I am glad that this service was launched in the first place. Every day that would delay its launch is a negative _for_ us. For myself, I am happy that the Czech Apple representative office launched this store and deployed the kind of prices and services it deployed. If it takes a day or two longer to fix small errors that only a complex rejpal will notice anyway, I really don't care.
I wish you, Mr. Kubín, more perspective, less angry expression in the photo and, above all, more intelligence.
You don't have to agree with me. I definitely didn't tear down Apple, but you probably didn't read there. The conclusion is more conciliatory.
But if my article is so bad, write your opinion. I like to publish it as a polemic. Send it to the mail: libor zavináč jbličkář dot cz
I look forward to.
Hello, I don't really care how it's written, intelligent, we always take the essentials from it and that's the information. Nobody learned from the sky and everyone needs years of practice before becoming a professional in the field. As for the Czech language as such, it should be written without mistakes, but Czech is a really flexible language :-)
By the way, who among you has already ordered something?
Yes, I did, and the exclusive service within 24 hours was my favorite (I'm not from Prague - UL).
Unlike other would-be e-shops where you have to wait several weeks to order.
So I don't see if those complaints are that important to me as a customer.
But the Czechs will probably still be disgruntled, whiny, and a bit "přízdisráčky" - well, that's probably why we are where we are...
Peace to the world who to another pit pit himself into it himself.
The Czech Republic is right! I didn't want to read any further...
I have commented on the Czech Republic before.
http://zpravy.idnes.cz/studenti-j11-janusek-patrik-3-dpv-/studenti.aspx?y=studenti/studenti-j11-janusek-patrik-3.htm
I like that the Czech keyboard has a Chinese description as an accessory.
Regarding the Czech Republic, I don't see a problem either... I don't know that even today anyone still needs to talk and look for differences between the Czech Republic and the Czech Republic. Once it was already recognized that it is possible to use it for the whole, so I don't know what you are talking about... In my opinion, a bit unnecessary note in the article. Not to mention whether the iphone is in first or x-th place. They certainly know how they need it to look and, above all, they don't just sell iPhones, so the second comment is not completely pointless, but completely unnecessary.
I'll sum it all up right away, the article was worth nothing. There is a difference between an editor and a web analyst... Stick to your own, you're better off.
Just to be sure, we are here for all regions, even districts in the Central European inland developing post-communist state called the Czech Republic. And although it sounds unbelievable, also for all towns and villages with access to the Internet or telephone. I wish you pleasant shopping. To hearing:-)
