The Internet world was living in its last hours by leaking very sensitive photos of well-known celebrities that the hackers were supposed to get by hacking the iCloud service. Apple now after intensive investigation he said, that it was not a breach of service per se, but only targeted attacks on select celebrity accounts, such as actress Jennifer Lawrence.

After 40 hours of Apple engineers investigating the high-priority issue, the California-based company released a statement saying iCloud was not breached per se, but was a "highly targeted attack" on select celebrity usernames, passwords and security questions, which is, according to Apple, a common practice on the Internet today.

For Apple, the fact that its iCloud security has not been breached is crucial, especially from the point of view of user trust. It is widely speculated that next week, together with the new iPhones, they will also present their own payment system, which will require the maximum level of security and the same high level of user trust. It would be the same in the case of a new wearable device and the health services connected to it.

See Apple's full statement below:

We would like to provide an update on our investigation into the theft of certain celebrity photos. When we learned of this act, we were outraged by it and immediately mobilized Apple engineers to discover the culprit. The privacy and security of our users are of the utmost importance to us. After more than 40 hours of investigation, we discovered that the accounts of selected celebrities were compromised by a highly targeted attack on usernames, passwords and security questions, which has become a common practice on the Internet. None of the cases we've investigated have resulted from the hacking of any Apple system, including iCloud or Find My iPhone. We continue to work with law enforcement to help identify the perpetrators.

Furthermore, at the end of the report, Apple recommends all users to choose complex passwords for their iCloud and other accounts and to activate two-step verification at the same time for even greater security.
