The analytical company IDC has published very interesting figures regarding the wearable electronics market, which includes not only smart watches and bracelets, but also so-called hearables, i.e. wireless headphones. Apple recorded perfect results throughout the year. This is also evidenced by the fact that Apple has shipped more wearable electronics than the companies in second through fourth place combined.

Globally, the wearable electronics market grew by 4 percent in 2019Q82,3. In total, 118,9 million products were shipped this quarter. The reason for this growth is mainly completely wireless headphones, in any case, the market for smart watches and bracelets has also seen growth. For all of 2019, manufacturers shipped 336,5 million wearable devices worldwide, an 89 percent increase over 2018.

Apple leads by a large margin. In 4Q19, it shipped 43,4 million units of wearable electronics products. And that's mainly because of the Apple Watch, a modified version of AirPods and the release of the new AirPods Pro. Beats products, which belong to Apple, also sold well. Interestingly, even though the company did well during the last quarter, Apple Watch shipments fell by 5,2 percent year-over-year.

In second place is Xiaomi, which delivered "only" 12,8 million units of products. The Chinese company relies mainly on smart bracelets, which account for 73,3 percent of shipments (9,4 million units). However, the share of wristbands decreased year-on-year, reflecting the growing trend towards smartwatches.

Samsung came in third with 10,5 million shipments. And that is mainly thanks to a strong portfolio of brands such as JBL or Infinity. However, they achieved quite a lot of success with the Galaxy Active and Active 2 smart watches. Despite the political pressure, Huawei came in fourth place. Smart bracelets and smartwatches accounted for the majority of the 9,3 million shipments. The company also started selling several completely wireless headphones, which helped it get ahead of Fitbit.
