Quite surprising news flew through the apple growing community. Apple had the unofficial YouTube channel removed Apple WWDC Videos, which included footage from the WWDC developer conferences. Although it was an unofficial channel and the Cupertino giant had every right to take this step with regard to copyright law, apple users are still quite shocked and do not understand why Apple actually decided to take this step. Especially after such a long time - the videos have been available for several years.

The whole situation was reported directly by the owner of the channel, Brendan Shanks. He on his own Twitter also showed communications from YouTube informing him of the download of specific videos claimed directly by Apple Inc. At the same time, he informed that, fortunately, he still has the videos available, so he will upload them to the Internet archive Internet Archive.

Apple is right, but apple fans are not thrilled

As we already mentioned in the beginning, with respect to the copyright law, Apple has every right to download these videos. If he doesn't want WWDC workshop recordings to be available in this way through an unofficial YouTube channel managed by the user himself, there's practically nothing stopping him from doing so. The Cupertino giant offers almost the same records itself through the Developer application. Any developer who wants to get to know the technologies can immediately play them through their Apple device. But there is also a small catch. You will not find such old records in the app, and if you would like to learn about Darwin or the Aqua environment, for example, then you are simply out of luck. Unfortunately, you will not find these lectures and workshops officially.

This is precisely the main reason that twice did not please apple lovers, in fact on the contrary. Given Apple's philosophy, the current move is rather surprising. The Cupertino giant presents itself by the fact that it is extremely important to share all the necessary information with developers and thus overall develop their knowledge and creativity. After all, that is why he also organizes interesting workshops in his homeland Today at Apple, in which they try to convey valuable knowledge to users. Given that, it may not make sense why he would suddenly take down, even if already elderly, recordings from his developer conferences. As we mentioned above, it would be ideal if the downloaded videos were available, for example, within the Developer application, thanks to which practically every Apple user would be able to access them.

Internet archive as a solution

Old recordings from WWDC are highly unlikely to be found on YouTube anymore. Fortunately, the aforementioned Internet Archive offers a suitable alternative. Specifically, it is the largest non-profit digital library with a clear goal - to provide visitors with universal access to knowledge. Using this particular service in such a case is not entirely unusual. A number of activists who advocate for a free and open internet for all rely on the internet archive, but with traditional networks, for example, they are limited by set conditions and rules.
