The music streaming platform Apple Music will see the official launch of the so-called Apple Digital Master collection in the coming weeks. It is a collection of music files that have gone through a special music mastering process that Apple established years ago with iTunes in mind.

In 2012, Apple launched a special program called Mastered for iTunes. Producers and artists had the opportunity to use the tools (software) offered by Apple, and use them to modify the original studio master, from which the least lossy version should be created, which would stand somewhere on the borderline between the original studio recording and the CD version.

Apple has added a huge number of music albums to its iTunes library this way over the years the program has been in operation. This collection, along with new music productions already being remastered, will now arrive on Apple Music as part of a brand new initiative called Apple Digital Remaster.

This section should contain all the music files that have gone through the process mentioned above, and should thus offer a slightly more interesting listening experience than ordinary songs. This new service is not yet directly presented in Apple Music, but it is only a matter of time before the relevant tab appears there.

In its statement, Apple claims that most news items are already modified in this way. From the ranking of the 100 most listened to songs in the USA, it corresponds to about 75%. Globally, this ratio is slightly lower. Once Apple publishes the official lists, it will be possible to find exactly which artists, albums and songs are covered by the program.
