Journalists are getting invitations to a special press conference on Friday, which should only be about the iPhone 4. We don't think Apple plans to launch any new Apple products.

There is constant talk on the Internet that the iPhone 4 has serious antenna problem and a software patch won't fix it. How serious this problem is, or how serious a problem journalists (and then iPhone 4 owners or, in many cases, rather non-iPhone 4 owners) make it out to be, will probably be known this Friday.

I can only repeat what I heard from Czech iPhone 4 owners and some foreign journalists. The iPhone 4 has a much better signal than previous models, so even in areas where you previously had trouble calling, you can now call. And it does not only apply in the Czech Republic, where we have mobile networks of much better quality than in the USA with AT&T, but also with AT&T. For example, one editor wrote that when he got home, whether he had a Blackberry or previous iPhone models, he always dropped the call after parking. Now with iPhone 4, he can continue to make phone calls.

But the truth is that when you hold the iPhone 4 in a specific way, the signal deteriorates significantly even compared to previous models. However, this problem is experienced by a minority of people, most users try to replicate this problem by holding the phone in a convulsive manner.

Apple is already testing iOS 4.1, which should fix signal display on the phone and will likely try to minimize the impact of this hold. We are expecting the announcement of the release of the new version of iOS 4 at a special conference. Apple will probably also apologize for the problems and maybe announce the distribution of gift coupons or Bumper cases. Personally, I don't expect Apple to start recalling the iPhone 4 from the market, or the 2 million units that have been sold so far and should have a problem.

For the purpose of a special conference here at Jablíčkář.cz we will prepare for continuously updated article from 19:00 on Friday with events from the conference.
