That Apple has been ignoring the Consumer Electronics Show in Barcelona, Spain for a long time is nothing new. The company does not want to present its products through similar events where other brands are present. So even though Apple wasn't here, it was everywhere. And he also won.

Apple doesn't participate in events like this because Steve Jobs once said that the company's customers would get the same experience any time they walked into a brick-and-mortar Apple Store. It's a little paradoxical that you don't put in any effort and still take home an award, even one as prestigious as the best smartphone of the year. At MWC, a large number of awards are announced across the entire mobile segment, where of course there is also the award for the best smartphone. The shortlisted phones were iPhone 14 Pro, Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Valuation The best smartphone combines superior performance, innovation and leadership, as determined by the smartphone market evaluation between January 2022 and December 2022 by the world's leading independent analysts, journalists and influencers. Well, the iPhone 14 Pro won. On the one hand, it's certainly good that the judges don't penalize Apple simply for not participating in similar events and counting on its production, on the other hand, it's a rather funny fact. Obviously, it is not important to participate, but to win.

Moreover, it is not the only award that Apple has won. In the category Groundbreaking innovation it was also awarded for its SOS communication function via satellites, which was just introduced by the iPhone 14 series. Its competition was, for example, Google's Tensor 2 chip, Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip series or the IMX989 camera sensor from Sony. This price should reflect the improvement of user experience across the industry.

The iPhone is a phenomenon

However, Apple wasn't just represented at MWC by winning some awards. The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro are very popular devices, and can be seen at every turn - both on and off the exhibition floor. Everyone wants to ride the wave of its popularity, either by copying its features or design. However, it is a long-term trend and it is not exclusively the case of the MWC just ending.

If you look at accessory manufacturers, or any advertisers of anything, they're all counting on iPhones. It is iPhones that have their characteristic design, which, however, was helped to a certain extent by the cutout in the display, thanks to which you can identify it at first glance. A clear trend in the future will also be the display of Dynamic Island, when it becomes more widely known. You won't see such a Galaxy S23 Ultra promoted anywhere, even though it also has its own unmistakable look. An iPhone is just an iPhone and not some Samsung.
