Eddy Cue, who is the head responsible for Apple Music, yesterday to the French server Numerama confirmed that the streaming service has managed to surpass the goal of 60 million paying users.

The company's management is said to be extremely satisfied with the growth of Apple Music's user base, and they will continue to focus on making the service constantly better and attractive to new potential customers. The biggest priority at the moment is to make sure that the service works as well as possible on all platforms on which it is available - i.e. iOS (iPadOS), macOS, tvOS, Windows and Android.

According to Eddy Cue, the Internet radio station Beats 1 is also doing very well, boasting tens of millions of listeners. However, Cue did not mention if this is a total number or some time-limited figure.

What Cue didn't want to talk about, on the other hand, is the ratio of users who use Apple Music from a non-Apple ecosystem. I.e. users accessing Apple Music from either a Windows operating system or an Android mobile device. Eddy Cue reportedly knows this number, but he did not want to share it. As for users within the Apple ecosystem, Apple Music is the most used service.

There were also comments about iTunes ending after 18 years. Over the years, iTunes has played its part with honor, but it is said that it is necessary to move on and not look back to the past. Apple Music is said to be the overall better platform for music listening needs.

As for the number of subscribers as such, the growth trend has been more or less similar for several years. In November of last year, Apple announced that it had exceeded 56 million paying users, and it took seven months to reach the 60 million mark. So far, Apple is losing a little over 40 million subscribers globally to its biggest rival (Spotify). However, in the United States, for example, Apple Music has been number one since the beginning of this year (28 against 26 million paying/premium users).
