Listening to music today is literally dominated by so-called music streaming services. This is the most comfortable way to enjoy your favorite music anytime and anywhere. In practice, it works quite simply - for a monthly fee, the entire library of the given service is made available to you, thanks to which you can start listening to anything, from local authors to global names of various genres. In this segment, Spotify is currently the leader, followed by Apple Music, which they occupy together almost half the entire market.

Of course, Spotify is number one with a share of around 31%, which the service owes to its simple user interface and unrivaled system for offering new music or composing playlists. Listeners can thus constantly discover new music that they have a good chance of really liking. But this only shows us one thing, namely that Spotify is the most used streaming service. Let's look at it now from a slightly different angle. What if it comes to the question of which music platform is currently the most innovative and therefore attractive? It is precisely in this direction that Apple clearly dominates with the Apple Music platform.

Apple Music as an innovator

As we mentioned above, Spotify remains number one on the market. However, it is Apple, or rather its Apple Music platform, that fits the role of the biggest innovator. Recently, it has seen one great innovation after another, which move the service several steps forward and generally improve the overall enjoyment that the subscriber can get. The first major step on the part of the Cupertino giant came already in mid-2021, when the introduction took place Apple Music Lossless. The Apple company thus brought the possibility of streaming music in a lossless format with Dolby Atmos sound quality, thus delighting all lovers of high-quality audio. In terms of quality, Apple immediately came out on top. The best part is that the ability to listen to music in lossless format is available for free. It is part of Apple Music, so you just need a regular subscription. On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that not everyone will enjoy this novelty. You cannot do without the appropriate headphones.

Along with the advent of lossless music streaming came support for Spatial audio or surround sound. Apple users can once again enjoy supported tracks in a completely new surround sound format and thus enjoy the musical experience literally to the fullest. It is this gadget that is significantly more important for ordinary listeners, since you can enjoy it on significantly more devices than in the case of the aforementioned lossless sound. It is therefore not surprising that listeners enjoy surround sound immensely they liked. More than half of subscribers worldwide use Spatial Audio.

However, Apple is not going to stop, quite the opposite. In 2021, he bought the well-known Primephonic service specializing in serious music. And after a short wait, we finally got it. In March 2023, the giant unveiled a brand new service called Apple Music Classical, which will get its own application and make the world's largest library of classical music available to listeners, which subscribers will be able to enjoy in first-class sound quality with Spatial Audio support. To top it all off, the platform will also already offer hundreds of playlists, and it will not lack biographies of individual authors or a generally simple user interface.

Spotify is lagging behind

While Apple literally brings one new thing after another, the Swedish giant Spotify unfortunately lags behind in this. In 2021, the Spotify service introduced the arrival of a brand new level of subscription with the label Spotify Hi-Fi, which should bring significantly higher sound quality. The introduction of this news came long before Apple and its Apple Music Lossless. But the problem is that Spotify fans are still waiting for the news. Additionally, it's likely that people interested in streaming in better quality via Spotify HiFi will have to pay a bit more for the service, whereas with Apple Music, lossless audio is available to everyone.
