Already in the pre-Christmas period, Apple had to deal with rather unpleasant disputes with Qualcomm, which initially appeared to be just another court battle that will end in an out-of-court settlement. In the end, Qualcomm succeeded succeed in a Chinese court and temporarily ban the sale of some iPhones. Later, in the case of another patent, then the chip manufacturers twigs indeed even the court in Germany. Apple has now had to withdraw the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 from the local market.

The Cupertino giant was forced to stop selling in Germany today iPhone 7, 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The mentioned models disappeared not only from all fifteen Apple Stores in the country, but also from the company's official website. Currently, only the latest iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR remain on offer, which are not affected by the court's verdict. Specifically, the iPhones were allegedly infringing on a patent related to battery-saving technology.

Apple is also recalling the aforementioned iPhones from all sellers in the country, which include operators, authorized resellers and independent e-shops. However, according to foreign magazine reports TechCrunch and agencies Reuters some retailers still have the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 still in stock.

At the same time, the ban on sales does not have to last long. Apple is currently trying to overturn the court's ruling. If it succeeds, Qualcomm has 1,34 billion euros ready in securities with which it would compensate its rival's losses. But Apple already let it be known last year that similar lawsuits are just a desperate attempt by Qualcomm to divert attention from the real problems that the two companies have between them.
