Maybe it's incredibly careless, maybe it's intentional, and maybe Apple is just kidding us, but one thing's for sure - during the WWDC 2012 keynote, two photos of an iPhone that looks unlike any other model we've seen so far appeared right in the presentation see. Unless this really is a malicious joke by Apple on the current rumors about the shape of the iPhone, we should really expect an extended version.

Our reader drew our attention to the unusual size of the phone in the recording of the keynote Martin Doubek. Both photos can be seen during Scott Forstall's presentation when he was introducing the new features in iOS 6. The first of the photos appears at the 79 minute mark where he is introducing one of Siri's features, Eyes Free. In the photo in the car, a white iPhone is embedded in the holder, which is significantly longer than all existing models.

The second photo is in the slide at the 87th minute. Here, too, the iPhone looks slightly longer when held in the hand than previous generations, although it's hard to tell from the angle.

We enlarged the image from the car and added the iPhone 4. When viewing the shot in more detail, it seems that the phone is slightly rotated, but proportionally it appears to be quite significantly elongated. The depth of the phone, on the other hand, is lower than it should be at the given viewing angle. The display also gives the impression of a larger area and stretching to the edges.

Compared to other rumors that have appeared regarding an elongated iPhone with an aspect ratio of 16:9, this one is the most credible, because it comes directly from Apple. On the other hand, you still have to be careful, Apple sometimes likes to make fun of current rumors. For example, at the end of last year you made fun of bloggers looking for references to future devices in iOS betas and included a mention of products such as the iPad 8 or Apple TV 9. On the invitation to the unveiling of the new iPad, the change retouched the Home button on the photo with the tablet, which led to speculation that we would be saying goodbye to the main hardware button.

Update at 10.30 a.m.:

Several opinions appeared in the discussion that the image is width-distorted (narrowed) and I do not take this fact into account. Therefore, we simulated the correct ratio, yet the new model seems narrower.
