Apple has started exporting iPhones from factories in India to selected European countries. In these factories, older models such as the iPhone 6s or last year's iPhone 7 are created, the company Wistron is involved in the production.

According to Counterpoint Research, around 6 iPhone 7s and 60 iPhones leave Indian factories every month, making up 70%-XNUMX% of the total. So far, however, the products of Apple's Indian factories have only met local demand, and they are now being exported to other countries for the first time in history.

The Indian government has long encouraged companies to manufacture their products in India, and with this intention, it has also created a program called "Make in India". Apple started production of its iPhone 6s and SE here in 2016, at the beginning of this year, the iPhone 7 was added to the list of smartphones manufactured in India. The reason for starting production in India was mainly the high duty imposed by the local government on the import of electronics manufactured abroad . For this reason, the price of iPhones in India was also prohibitively high and their sales were disappointing.

In addition to the aforementioned iPhone 6s and 7, the X and XS models could also start production in India soon. Their production could be taken over by Foxconn, which is also Apple's manufacturing partner. The move could not only help Apple lower smartphone prices in the Indian market, but could also go some way towards eliminating the fallout from the trade war between the United States and China.

The Indian government could also benefit from the export of iPhones from Indian factories to other countries of the world, and for Apple this move could mean a strengthening of the market share.
