In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Brydge has announced a vertical dock for the Mac

The renowned company Brydge today announced a brand new series of vertical docking stations designed for Apple MacBook Pro laptops. New products include a redesigned dock designed for previous generations of the aforementioned Pro model, and then a brand new piece that will be appreciated by owners of 16″ MacBook Pro and 13″ MacBook Air. So let's talk about these additions to the Brydge product family.

The new vertical docking stations are huge unpretentious on space. As you can see in the gallery attached above, they take up almost no space on the desktop and do not interfere with the user in any way. The station itself offers two USB-C ports through which we can either charge our Apple laptop or connect an external monitor. But of course that's not all. In the case of these products, there is often talk of cooling. For this reason, at Brydge, they decided on holes designed for air intake and exhaust, so that the excess air gets outside the body of the MacBook and does not heat it up unnecessarily. Vertical docking station should reach the market this October.

Apple wins court case with European Union

The Californian giant has gone through several different lawsuits over the years of its operation. As is usual with larger corporations, most of the time it's either patent trolls, antitrust lawsuits, tax issues, and a host of others. If you regularly follow the events around Apple, you probably know about the so-called Irish case. Let's recap it gently for a closer look. In 2016, the European Commission revealed an illegal agreement between the apple company and Ireland, which started long legal disputes that have continued to this day. Moreover, this problem represented a real threat to Apple. There was a threat that the Cupertino company would have to pay 15 billion euros in compensation to Ireland for tax evasion. After four long years, we fortunately received the aforementioned verdict.

The court declared the lawsuits against Apple invalid, which means that we already know the winner. So for now, the Californian giant has peace of mind, but it is only a matter of time before the opposing party appeals against the decision and the court case reopens. But as we have already mentioned, for now Apple is calm and does not have to worry about this problem at the moment.

The Californian giant has been accused of censoring a pro-democracy app in Hong Kong

The problems with the People's Republic of China are known all over the world and the current situation in Hong Kong is an example of this. Residents there, who yearn for human rights and call for democracy, have created a so-called pro-democracy application called PopVote. This is an unofficial election application that is used to survey the popularity of opposition candidates. In the case of this application, the PRC warned that the application as such is against the law. He strictly forbids any criticism of the Chinese government.

Business magazine Quartz recently reported that the PopVote app unfortunately never made it to the App Store. While Android fans were able to download it almost immediately on the Google Play Store, the other party was not so lucky. Apple reportedly initially had some reservations about the code, which the developers immediately corrected and filed a new request. After this step, however, the Californian giant did not hear from them. Although the development team tried to contact the Cupertino company several times, they never received a response, and according to a person named Edwin Chu, who works as an IT consultant for the application itself, Apple is censoring them.

Due to the mentioned application, it was also established official website. It is unfortunately inactive in the current situation, but why is that? The CEO of CloudFlare commented on this, saying that the largest and most sophisticated DDoS attack he had ever seen was behind the site's inoperability. If the allegation is true and Apple has indeed censored a pro-democracy app that is very important to the people of Hong Kong in the current situation, it could face a lot of criticism and problems.
