This year's iPad Pro in the 12,9" variant received a huge display improvement. Apple has bet on the expected mini-LED backlight technology, which brings the benefits of OLED panels without suffering from the famous burning of pixels. So far, OLED is only used in iPhones and Apple Watch, while the rest of Apple's offer relies on classic LCD. But that should change soon. According to the latest report from a Korean website ETNews Apple plans to equip some of its iPads with an OLED display.

Remember the introduction of the iPad Pro with a mini-LED display:

The aforementioned report refers to sources from the supply chain, according to which Apple will enrich iPads with an OLED panel as early as 2022. But what is worse is that it has not been specified in any way which models will actually see this change. Fortunately, a well-known analyst has already commented on the topic Ming-Chi Kuo. In March of this year, he commented on the situation regarding the company's tablets and their displays, when he incidentally mentioned that the mini-LED technology will remain reserved only for iPad Pros. He went on to add that the OLED panel will be heading to the iPad Air next year.

Samsung and LG are the current suppliers of OLED displays for Apple. ETNews therefore expects these giants to also ensure their production in the case of iPads as well. Doubts have also been raised earlier about whether there will be a price increase along with this transition. However, OLED displays in iPads should not offer the same subtlety of the display as in the iPhone, which will make them less expensive. So, in theory, we don't have to worry about this change.
