Gone are the days when Apple only offered us its devices in two color variants, i.e. silver and space gray. Later, gold and rose gold joined this duo, but now everything is different. With the 24" iMacs came colorful colors that could have meant a more interesting portfolio. But Apple may not be using this potential as much as it could.

Yes, there was one exception in the form of the iPhone 5C, whose unusual plastic back was available in several designs. However, this was a unique step taken by the company, which it did not actually follow up on. Instead, we have a pink, blue, dark ink, star white and (PRODUCT)RED red iPhone 13, or a mountain blue, silver, gold and graphite gray iPhone 13 Pro.

The 24" iMac could set the trend

In the dull and depressing covid era, it's rather nice to see how Apple has played with the colorful look of the new iMacs. We have blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple here. However, these colors do not reflect other product portfolios, at least not completely. There is a similar pink and blue with the iPhone 13, the same goes for the blue and green with the Apple Watch Series 7, even though the shades may be different. The 6th generation iPad mini is not only available in pink, but even purple. As the only one of the new products. In addition, its purple is considerably lighter than that of the iPhone 11.

When you go through the company's offer, it doesn't look like they are struggling with color combinations. It's already difficult to match iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, let alone when you add computers to it, although for the portable ones, only the classic trio is available in the form of silver and space gray for the MacBook Pro and even gold for the MacBook Air. So far, Apple has made the only visible attempt to unify colors with the HomePod.

To the original white and space gray, he added blue, yellow and orange, which match the dark colors on the new iMacs. Therefore, if the 24" iMac is to be primarily a home computer that completes the interior of the home, so should the HomePod. These devices will probably be together most often, in contrast, you will rarely put iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch and MacBooks next to each other so that their color similarity is necessary. Well, at least it seems that this is exactly what Apple thinks, and that's why they don't solve their color shades here (if we don't know the problem with the color technology, of course). But then there are accessories.

AirPods and AirTags

Where else could Apple have more fun, at least in terms of color options, than on its cheapest product and really popular headphones? But here you can clearly see the company estate. The iPhone 2013C introduced in 5 was actually completely against her thinking, when she sharply differentiated her plastic products in this way. Sure, it used to be the case with the black iPhone 3G and 3GS, but that's even more of the past (as is the case with plastic MacBooks).

With Apple, what is plastic is white. So it's not just AirPods, except for the Max generation, which has aluminum shells, it's AirTags, it's also adapters and cables, with the exception of the new iMacs only, where the accessories match the color of the iMac. The plastic accessories of the iPods were also white. It is therefore very likely that AirPods and AirTags will not be other than white again in their next generations. However, if Apple took the courage to come up with new color combinations, many of us would certainly be happy for it.
