The constantly growing Indian market could soon be another very interesting destination for Apple next to China. That's why the Californian company is accelerating its efforts in this area and has now announced the opening of a large development center, focused on maps, as well as a center for independent third-party developers.

Apple is opening new offices in Hyderabad, India's fourth largest city, and is going to develop its Maps for iOS, Mac and Apple Watch here. The giant IT development center Waverock is to create up to four thousand jobs and thus confirming the news from February.

"Apple is focused on creating the best products and services in the world, and we are excited to open these new offices in Hyderabad to focus on the development of Maps," said Apple CEO Tim Cook. According to unofficial information, his company spent 25 million dollars (600 million crowns) for the entire project.

“There is an incredible amount of talent in this area and we look forward to expanding our collaboration and introducing our platforms to universities and partners here as we expand our operations,” added Cook, who is really ramping up operations in India.

This week, the California-based giant also announced that it will open a design and development accelerator for iOS apps in India in 2017. In Bangalore, developers will then be able to train in coding for various Apple platforms.

Apple chose Bengaluru because it has more tech startups than any other part of India, and Apple sees great potential in the more than a million people employed in the technology sector.

The announcement comes at a time when Tim Cook is visiting China and India, where he is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
