In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Apple is working on a MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12

Renowned leaker Mark Gurman from Bloomberg came up with fresh information today, revealing a lot of information from Apple. One of them is that Apple is currently working on an alternative to the iconic Smart Battery Case, which will be designed for the latest iPhone 12 and charging will take place through MagSafe. This cover hides the battery in itself, thanks to which it greatly extends the life of the iPhone without you having to bother looking for a power source. Of course, older models of this case connected to Apple phones via standard Lightning.

This alternative has reportedly been in the works for at least a year and was originally planned to be introduced a few months after the launch of the iPhone 12. At least that's what the people involved in the development revealed. They went on to add that the prototypes are only white for now and their outer part is made of rubber. Of course, the question is whether the product will be reliable at all. So far, many people have criticized MagSafe itself because of the insufficient strength of the magnets. The development has reportedly experienced software errors in recent months, such as overheating and the like. According to Gurman, if these obstacles persist, Apple could either postpone the upcoming cover or cancel its development altogether.

Work on almost the same product, which is a kind of "Battery Pack" connectable via MagSafe, was also confirmed by MacRumors magazine. Our reference to the given product directly in the iOS 14.5 developer beta code, where it says: "To improve efficiency and maximize battery life, Battery Pack will keep your phone charged at 90%".

We won't see reverse charging anytime soon

Mark Gurman went on to share one more interesting thing. In recent years, the so-called reverse charging has gained considerable popularity, which has been pleasing, for example, owners of Samsung devices for some time now. Unfortunately, Apple users are out of luck in this regard, because iPhones simply do not have this benefit. But it is certain that Apple is at least toying with the idea of reverse charging, as evidenced by some leaks. In January, the Cupertino giant also patented a way in which the MacBook could be used to wirelessly charge the iPhone and Apple Watch on the sides of the trackpad, which is of course the aforementioned reverse charging method.

The latest news about the development of the described Battery Pack for charging iPhone 12 through MagSafe also pointed out that we should not count on the arrival of reverse charging in the near future. Apple has allegedly swept these plans off the table in the current situation. Currently, it is not at all clear whether we will ever see this feature, or when. Anyway, according to the FCC database, the iPhone 12 should already be capable of reverse charging in terms of hardware. The iPhone could thus serve as a wireless charging pad for the second-generation AirPods, AirPods Pro and Apple Watch. According to some theories, Apple could eventually unlock this option through an update to the iOS operating system. Unfortunately, the latest news does not indicate this at all.

Clubhouse has surpassed 8 million downloads in the App Store

Recently, the new social network Clubhouse has gained enormous popularity. It became a complete and global sensation when it brought a completely new idea. In this network, you will not find any chat or video chat, but only rooms where you can only talk when you are given the floor. You can request this by simulating a raised hand and possibly discuss it with others. This is the perfect solution for the current coronavirus situation where human contact is limited. Here you can find conference rooms where you can easily educate yourself, but also informal rooms where you can have a friendly chat with others.

According to the latest data from App Ania, the Clubhouse app has now crossed eight million downloads in the App Store, which only confirms its popularity. It must be mentioned that this social network is currently only available for iOS/iPadOS and Android users will have to wait for a few more months. At the same time, you can't just register for the network, but you need an invitation from someone who already uses Clubhouse.
