Microsoft brings native Visual Studio support to Apple Silicon

Last November, Apple showed us the first Apple computers equipped with an advanced chip from the Apple Silicon family, labeled M1. This chip is based on the ARM architecture, which at first raised a number of questions. Skeptics claimed that such Macs would be almost unusable because no application would run on them. Apple managed to deal with this problem by using the Rosetta 2 solution, which can recompile applications written for Intel-based Macs and run them.

Anyway, fortunately, the developers realize that they should definitely not let the imaginary train go by. So more and more programs come with full support even for the latest Apple computers. Now the giant Microsoft joins them with its very popular Visual Studio Code editor. Support comes as part of build 1.54, which also brings a number of improvements and updates. With this news, Microsoft said that users of the M1 Mac mini, MacBook Air and 13″ MacBook Pro should now see better performance and longer battery life.

Apple managed to maintain its dominance in the smartwatch market

The coronavirus crisis has brought with it a number of challenging challenges that have been reflected in various markets. People have stopped spending as much, which has reduced demand for some products. Of course, Apple also ran into various problems, especially on the supply chain side, due to which the presentation of the iPhone 12 and the like had to be postponed. Decline according to the agency's latest data Counterpoint Research also experienced the smartwatch market. The surprise then is that, despite this adverse situation, Apple has managed to maintain its lead and can even enjoy a 19% increase in sales.

The Cupertino company dominated already in the fourth quarter of 2019, when it controlled roughly 34% of the market. Last year, anyway, Apple showed off two new models to the world, which are the Apple Watch Series 6 and the cheaper Apple Watch SE model. Precisely thanks to the cheaper SE variant, which is available from 7 crowns. It can be assumed that this particular model, although it does not offer an always-on display or an ECG sensor, helped Apple immensely. Its market share increased from the mentioned 990% to a great 34%. Counterpoint Research analyst Sujeong Lim is of the opinion that a cheaper version of the Apple Watch is likely to force giants like Samsung to create a similar product in the mid-range price range.
