Microsoft presented to the world a brand new advertisement in which it compares the Surface Pro 7 and the iPad Pro, specifically pointing out certain imperfections of the tablet with the bitten apple logo. At the same time, today brought us interesting information about the upcoming Apple TV, about which we really don't know much for now.

Microsoft compares the Surface Pro 7 to the iPad Pro in a new ad

Apple has quite a lot of competition these days. Fans of these competing brands in the overwhelming majority of cases stand behind their products and criticize the Cupertino pieces for various shortcomings, including the higher purchase price. Microsoft even released a new ad last night comparing the Surface Pro 7 and the iPad Pro. This follows on from the January spot comparing the same Surface with the MacBook with the M1, which we wrote about here.

The new advertisement points out the mentioned imperfections. For example, the Surface Pro 7 is equipped with a practical, built-in stand, which greatly facilitates use and allows users to simply place the device, for example, on a table, whereas the iPad does not have such a thing. The huge weight of the keyboard is still mentioned, which is significantly higher than in the case of the competition. Of course, not a single USB-C port was forgotten in the case of the "apple Pro," whereas the Surface is equipped with several connectors. In the last row, the actor pointed out the price differences, when the 12,9″ iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard costs $1348 and the Surface Pro 7 costs $880. These are the versions used in advertising, the basic models start at lower amounts.

Intel ad comparing PC to Mac

Microsoft likes to point out that it offers both a tablet and a computer in one device, which, of course, Apple cannot compete with. It's the same Intel. In his campaign against Macs with the M1, he points to the absence of a touch screen, which Apple tries to compensate for with the Touch Bar. But whether we will see a 2-in-1 device with a bitten apple logo is unlikely for now. Apple icon Craig Federighi expressed in November 2020 that the Cupertino company has no plans for the moment to develop a Mac with a touch screen.

The expected Apple TV will support 120Hz refresh rate

For a long time there has been talk about the arrival of a new Apple TV, which we should expect already this year. For now, however, we do not know much information about this upcoming news. In any case, a rather interesting novelty flew through the Internet today, which was discovered by the renowned portal 9to5Mac in the code of the beta version of the tvOS 14.5 operating system. In the component for PineBoard, which is an internal label for the Apple TV user interface, labels such as "120Hz," "supports 120Hz" etc.

So it is highly likely that the new generation will bring 120Hz refresh rate support. This also indicates that Apple TV will no longer use HDMI 2.0, which can transmit images with a maximum resolution of 4K and a frequency of 60 Hz. That's exactly why we can expect a transition to HDMI 2.1. This is no longer a problem with 4K video and 120Hz frequency. Anyway, we don't have any other more reliable information about the new generation for now.
