In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Working on an Apple Car? Confusion ensues

Recently, we have been informing you quite regularly about various news from the world of Apple Car, i.e. about the upcoming autonomous electric car from Apple's workshop. At first, it was said that the Cupertino giant teamed up with Hyundai for development and production. The work should progress briskly and there was even talk of coming to the market in 2025. But today the tables have completely turned. According to the latest information from the Bloomberg agency, Hyundai, i.e. Kia, is not (any longer) involved in the development of the mentioned electric car. So, the whole situation creates solid chaos.

At the same time, Hyundai confirmed last month that Apple is in contact with several major car manufacturers. Paradoxically, they retracted their claim after a few hours. According to Bloomberg, any discussion between the companies was put on hold when Hyundai "pissed off" Apple for under-disclosing the information. How the whole situation will develop further is unclear for now.

Doctors warn: iPhone 12 endangers pacemakers

In October last year, we saw the introduction of the long-awaited Apple phones. iPhone 12 once again moved the entire mobile market forward and brought a number of great novelties to Apple users. For example, the night mode for taking pictures has been significantly improved, even the cheaper versions have OLED displays, the long-praised support for 5G networks, the extremely powerful Apple A14 Bionic chip and many others have arrived. However, we must not forget to mention the arrival of MagSafe technology on iPhones. This is used here for faster wireless charging (up to 15 W) or for attaching covers, cases and the like.

For these purposes, MagSafe uses a series of sufficiently strong magnets that can ensure that, for example, the mentioned case does not just fall off the phone. Of course, this technology brings with it a certain level of comfort, and many apple growers immediately liked it. But you have one catch. Apple already informed the public at the end of January that the iPhone 12 could be dangerous to health, as it could affect the functionality of pacemakers. The latest information has now been brought by the renowned cardiologist Gurjit Singh together with his colleagues, who decided to shed light on this problem in detail.

According to Dr. Singh, more than 300 Americans annually undergo surgery to implant a cardiology-related device, while every fourth phone sold last year was an iPhone 12. The tests themselves were conducted with the iPhone 12 Pro, and the results were literally shocking. As soon as the phone was placed/brought close to the chest of a patient with an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator, it immediately turned off. As soon as the iPhone moved away, the device started working again. At first, doctors expected the magnets in Apple phones to be too weak.

Intel has shared interesting benchmarks showing its processors compared to the M1

Last year, the Californian giant presented a very interesting project called Apple Silicon. Specifically, it is a transition from processors from Intel to a proprietary solution in the case of Apple computers. Then, in November 2020, we first saw the first chip labeled M1, which far surpassed all competition in terms of performance and energy. Intel has now decided to strike back when it presented its own benchmarks that show the performance of their Intel Core processors compared to the mentioned M1 chip.

You can view all the benchmarks on the images attached above. For example, Intel shows that a laptop with a Windows operating system and an 7th generation Intel Core i11 processor with 16 GB of RAM can export a PowerPoint presentation to PDF 2,3x faster than a 13″ MacBook Pro with an M1 and 16 GB of RAM. Other screenshots point to video conversion, gaming, battery life, and more.
