iOS 14.5 Beta again supports Picture-in-Picture on YouTube

For several long years, the same problem has been solved - how to play a video on YouTube after minimizing the application. The solution was to be offered by the iOS 14 operating system, which brought with it support for the Picture in Picture function. Specifically, this means that in the browser, when playing video from various sources, you can switch to full-screen mode, tap the appropriate button, which will then play the video for you in a reduced form, while you can browse other applications and work with the phone at the same time.

In September after the release of iOS 14, YouTube decided to make the Picture in Picture feature available only to logged in users with an active Premium account. Then a month later, in October, support mysteriously returned and anyone could play background video from the browser. After a few days, however, the option disappeared and is still missing from YouTube. In any case, the latest tests show that the upcoming update of the iOS 14.5 operating system could elegantly solve the existing problems. The tests so far show that in the beta version of the system, Picture in Picture is active again, not only in Safari, but also in other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox. In the current situation, it is not even clear what caused the absence of this gadget, or whether we will see it even when the sharp version is released.

iOS 14 also brought popular widgets with it:

Apple Watch could predict the disease of COVID-19

For almost a year now, we have been plagued by the global pandemic of the disease COVID-19, which has significantly affected the functioning of our company. Travel and human contact have been significantly reduced. There has already been talk about the potential use of smart accessories and how they could theoretically help in the fight against the pandemic. The latest study titled Warrior Watch Study, which was taken care of by a team of experts from the Mount Sinai Hospital, found that the Apple Watch could predict the presence of the virus in the body up to a week before the classic PCR test. Hundreds of employees participated in the entire study, who used the mentioned apple watch in combination with an iPhone and the Health application for several months.

All participants had to fill out a questionnaire every day for several months, in which they recorded potential symptoms of the coronavirus and other factors, including stress. The study was carried out from April to September last year and the main indicator was heart rate variability, which was then combined with reported symptoms (for example, fever, dry cough, loss of smell and taste). From the new findings, it was found that in this way it is possible to detect the infection even a week before the aforementioned PCR test. But of course that's not all. It has also been shown that heart rate variability returns to normal relatively quickly, specifically one to two weeks after a positive test.

Tim Cook in the latest health and wellness interview

Apple CEO Tim Cook is an extremely popular figure who pops up in an interview every now and then. In the latest issue of the popular magazine Outside, he even took the front page for himself and took part in a relaxed interview in which he talked about health, wellness and similar areas. For example, he said that Apple Park resembles working in a national park. Here you can come across people riding bicycles from one meeting to another or while running. The length of the track is approximately 4 km, so you only need to do a few rounds a day and you have a great workout. The director then added that physical activity is the key to a better and more satisfied life, which he followed by saying that Apple's greatest contribution will undoubtedly be in the field of health and wellness.

The entire interview is based on an interview from December 2020, which you can listen to, for example, on Spotify or in the native application Podcasts.
