In recent years, there has been more and more talk about the arrival of a revolutionary AR/VR headset from Apple. In connection with this topic, it has already been mentioned several times that this product will get its own App Store, similar to iPhones/iPads, Macs and Apple Watch, for example. But it is of course logical that Apple's application stores did not suddenly appear in their current form. Of course, they had to go through a certain development and logically it is clear that it took them some time. So let's summarize it briefly.

Mac App Store

The so-called Mac App Store, which today is an inseparable companion of Apple computer users, was first introduced on October 20, 2010, but it was not launched until January of the following year. The interesting thing is that after 24 hours of its operation, Apple reported over a million downloads. On the day of the download, the apple store had a little over a thousand apps for Macs, primarily games and utilities. Nowadays, however, the situation is of course diametrically different, especially in terms of the number of available apps. While there were only a few thousand then, today the numbers are literally several times larger.

Virtually any developer can publish their application to the Mac App Store. All he needs is a developer account (for an annual fee) and the fact that his creation complies with the prescribed conditions. This is the only way it can pass the subsequent review and get among the other instruments. Of course, even this store for apple computers is gradually developing and has encountered a number of interesting things during its existence. For example, in 2018, Apple completely abandoned 32-bit applications.

App Store for Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app store is the youngest of them all. Third-party apps can be installed on the Apple Watch through the iPhone, which Apple has decided to change. When watchOS 2019 was released in 6.0, it brought a native store directly to the watch, which means that there is no need to open the iPhone at all to install other apps. Of course, there is a minor catch. The Apple Watch is not that widespread among developers, which is why there aren't that many programs for it either. Many users believe that the App Store on "Watchky" is quite empty and practically do not even use it.

Apple headset is around the corner

As we mentioned in the introduction, in recent years there has been more and more speculation about the arrival of an interesting product. Specifically, it should be an AR/VR headset with a bitten apple logo, but for now, no one knows exactly what it will actually be used for and which target group it will target. Despite this, various renders and concepts with interesting depictions of this revolutionary piece appear.
