When Apple introduced the new iPad Pro this year, which was equipped with an M1 chip and even welcomed a so-called mini-LED display to 12,9″, it was clear to all apple lovers in which direction the giant was going to go. According to various sources, the company is also implementing the same display technology in other products. The main candidate at the moment is the expected MacBook Pro, which could offer a drastic change in display quality thanks to this change. But there is one catch. The production of such components is not entirely simple.

Remember the introduction of iPad Pro with M1 and mini-LED display:

Apple is even having problems already with the production of the 12,9″ iPad Pro. According to the latest report from the DigiTimes portal, the giant is therefore now looking for a new supplier that would help with production and relieve the Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (TSMT) company. But the portal has already emphasized that TSMT will be the sole supplier of the component called SMT for the iPad Pro as well as the yet-to-be-presented MacBook Pro. In any case, Apple could have reassessed the situation and instead of risking not satisfying the demand, it prefers to bet on another supplier. If you wanted to order a 12,9″ iPad Pro now, you would have to wait until the end of July/beginning of August for it.

This is what the expected MacBook Pro (2021) could look like

Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic and the global shortage of chips have the lion's share of the whole situation. In any case, mini-LED technology brings a great picture and thus approaches the qualities of OLED panels, without suffering from their famous problems in the form of burning pixels or reduced lifespan. Currently, only the mentioned iPad Pro in its 12,9″ variant is available with such a display. The new MacBook Pro should then be introduced later this year.
