While users who use Apple Pay praise the mobile wallet service, it may ultimately be the physical credit card that gives Apple more mass adoption in the financial market.

The numbers regarding the success of Apple Pay sound quite impressive. According to Tim Cook, more than one billion transactions took place in the third quarter of last year, with Apple's payment service estimated to be used by around a third of iPhone owners. But if we look at the whole thing from the point of view of percentages, we get a slightly different impression. Roughly three years after Apple Pay launched, the service accounts for just 3% of transactions where it is accepted as a payment method.

According to a new magazine questionnaire Business Insider with Apple in the area of payments flashes back to better times. In the end, however, it will not be the mobile version of Apple Pay that will give the company a better foothold in the financial market. The survey showed that 80% of customers are more likely to use Apple Pay if they have a physical payment card.

Survey participants indicated that owning the card would make them more likely to use the service. They confirmed the initial estimates that the card would contribute to a more massive use of Apple's mobile wallet. As strange as it sounds, almost 8 out of 10 respondents said that if they had an Apple Card, they would be very likely to start paying with their mobile.

The Apple Card offers customers better benefits for mobile payments than for transactions made with a physical card. More than half of those surveyed admitted that Apple Card would significantly increase their likelihood of using Apple Pay. A number of people will certainly buy a physical Apple Card, among other things, for the reason that it simply looks good, but the more favorable cashback will force them to pay with a mobile phone instead.

It turned out that the Apple Card really got people interested. Apple's promotional video garnered around 15 million views on YouTube alone in less than two days. Readers of technology-focused websites often cite the presentation of the Apple Card as the most interesting moment of the entire Apple Keynote. 42% of iPhone owners are interested in the card, while only less than 15% are completely uninterested.
