What could the Apple Car look like, and will we ever see it? We can already have at least a partial answer to the first, the second maybe not even Apple itself knows. However, automotive experts have taken Apple's patents and created an interactive 3D model of what the fabled Apple Car might look like. And he will definitely like it.

The concept shows both the exterior design and the interior of the car. Although the model is based on the relevant patents of the company, it does not mean, of course, that this is how Apple's car should actually look like. Many patents do not come to fruition, and if they do, they are often written in general terms so that the authors can bend them accordingly. You can view the published visualization here.

Form based on the documents

The model released is fully 3D and allows you to rotate the car 360 degrees to view it in detail. The design also seems to be slightly inspired by Tesla's Cybertruck, albeit with more rounded corners. The first thing you'll probably notice is the pillarless design, which includes not only the side windows, but also the roof and front (cough safety). This is patent US10384519B1. The thin headlights will certainly attract attention, on the other hand, what is a bit surprising are the ubiquitous company logos.

Inside the car, there is a large continuous touch screen that stretches across the entire dashboard. It is based on patent US20200214148A1. The operating system is also displayed here, which shows not only maps, but also various applications, music playback, vehicle data, and even the Siri assistant has its own space here. However, we must note that even though the steering wheel looks really nice, we definitely won't want to hold it. Also, the Apple Car will be autonomous and will drive for us.

When will we wait?

It was June 2016 when there was talk across the internet that the Apple Car would be delayed. According to the news at the time, it was supposed to come on the market this year. However, as you can see, still silence on the trail, as Apple except for the filed patents on questions about this project, which is called Titan, is still silent. Already in the mentioned year, Elon Musk noted that if Apple releases its electric car in that year, it will be too late anyway. However, the reality is completely different and we have to hope that we will see at least ten years from this declaration. According to the latest information and the speculations of various analysts, D-Day is expected to come in 2025.

However, the production will not be provided by Apple, but the result will be created by world car companies, probably Hyundai, Toyota or even the Austrian Magna Steyr. However, the very idea of the Apple Car comes from already from 2008, and of course from the head of Steve Jobs. This year, he went around his colleagues and asked them how they would imagine a car with the company's logo. They certainly did not imagine the form we see here today.
