Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak recently gave an interview. In it, he touched on interesting topics such as the company's future direction, products and/or the company's vision.

Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple. While Jobs returned to the company except for a short break to get it back on its feet, Wozniak eventually went in a different direction. However, he is still invited as a VIP guest at the Apple Keynote and has access to some information. He also likes to comment on the direction of the company. After all, he confirmed it again in an interview with Bloomberg.

Services

Apple has already made it clear that it sees its future in services. After all, this category is growing the most, and so are revenues from it. Wozniak agrees with the change and adds that a modern company must be able to respond to trends and market demand.

I am very proud of Apple, because it has been able to make several changes as a company. We started out with the name Apple Computer and as we gradually moved towards consumer electronics, we dropped the word "Computer". And being able to keep up with market demand is very important for a modern business.

Wozniak also added a few sentences to the Apple Card. He particularly praised the design and the fact that it does not have a physically printed number.

The appearance of the card perfectly fits the style of Apple. It's stylish and beautiful—basically the prettiest card I've ever owned, and I don't even consider beauty that way.

Watch

Wozniak also commented on the company's focus on the Apple Watch. This is because it is currently his most popular hardware. However, he admitted that he does not use the fitness function very much.

Apple must move where the potential profit is. And that's why it moved into the watch category - which is my favorite piece of hardware right now. I'm not exactly the biggest athlete, but everywhere I go people use the health functions, which is an essential part of the watch. But Apple Watch has more such components.

Wozniak went on to praise the Watch's integration with Apple Pay and Wallet. He admitted that he recently got rid of the Mac and only uses the Watch - he basically skips the iPhone, it serves as his intermediary.

I switch from my computer to my Apple Watch and more or less skip my phone. I don't want to be one of those who depend on him. I don't want to end up as an addict, so I more or less don't use my phone except in urgent situations.

Distrust of tech giants

Apple, like other tech giants, has been under fire lately. It should be noted that often justified. Wozniak thinks that if the company split up, it would help the situation.

A company that has a privileged position on the market and uses it is acting unfairly. That is why I am leaning towards the option of splitting into several companies. I wish Apple had split into divisions years ago like other companies have done. Divisions can then act independently with greater powers - that's how it was at HP when I worked for them.

I think big tech companies are already too big and have too much power over our lives, they took away the possibility to influence it.

But I think Apple is one of the best companies for many reasons - it cares about the customer as such and makes money from good products, not by secretly watching you.

Just look at what we hear about the Amazon Alexa assistant and actually Siri - people are being eavesdropped. This is beyond the acceptable limit. We should be entitled to a certain amount of privacy.

Wozniak also commented on the trade war between the US and China and other topics. Full you can find the interview in English here.
