Is Apple's design iconic? Absolutely, and it has been so for many years. Even if he misses something here and there (like a butterfly keyboard), he's usually thought through to the last detail. However, as the years go by, and perhaps with the departure of Jona Ivo, it seems to be overstepping the mark.

Of course, it is most visible on iPhones. On the one hand, we can think of something else like this, but on the other hand, we can't tell the difference between the iPhone 13 and 14. And it's simply wrong. It is true that with the first generations of the iPhone, Apple presented iPhones with the S moniker, which only improved the original model with the same design, but this was always the case only once for each model. However, with the introduction of the iPhone X, Apple hit a three-year mark, with the iPhone 14 just completing one.

As for the one established by the first bezel-less iPhone, the iPhone XS and iPhone 11 were also based on it, and the iPhone 12, 13 and 14 have sharply cut sides. Now, with the iPhone 15, the design is finally set to change again. However, as it looks, we will only return to the previous appearance. As if there was nothing else to think of.

Back to the roots?

According to the last messages the iPhone 15 Pro should have thinner bezels around the display, which should even have curved edges. But it simply means that we're actually going back to the design that Apple abandoned with the iPhone 11, which now looks more like the Apple Watch Series 8, rather than the Apple Watch Ultra. Even if the frame is rounded, the display will still be flat, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Here, however, it is worth noting that this is a good thing, because the curved display distorts a lot and is quite susceptible to unwanted touches.

On the other hand, we would like to see some kind of experiment from Apple. We're not afraid that we won't like the new iPhones, they'll certainly look great, but if it's just a recycling of the old look, you can't help but feel that the company itself doesn't know where to go next. Hand on heart, we can say that the iPhone 14 doesn't have many design flaws, and this look would certainly work for Apple phones for years to come. But he is already smitten now, let alone in a year or two. Perhaps this is also why Apple is reaching for a new material, when there is lively speculation that the iPhone 15 Pro should be titanium.

iPhone XV as a special edition

When we mentioned Samsung, it took a risk. He took the most popular and most equipped classic smartphone and turned it into something new. The Galaxy S22 Ultra thus received a curved display and an S Pen from the defunct Note series, but kept the highest possible equipment. And then we have the puzzles, of course. Many manufacturers of Android phones then bet on different arrangements of camera lenses, effective colors (even those that change), or materials used, i.e. when they cover the back of the phone with artificial leather. We're not saying that this is exactly what we want from Apple, we're just saying that it could try to loosen up more. After all, it is the second largest smartphone seller in the world, so it simply has the resources and capabilities to do so.

But it is also quite possible that the iPhone 15 will contain another anniversary model, similar to what was the case with the iPhone X. So maybe we will see the classic four iPhones and one iPhone XV, which will be something unique, be it titanium, design, or that it will bend in half. See you in September.
