Apple has quietly, without much announcement, launched a fix for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus that are suffering from problems when trying to turn on the phone. These devices are entitled to free repair at an authorized service center.

Server & Hosting Bloomberg was the first to notice, that Apple is launching a new service program. It was launched yesterday, i.e. Friday, October 4. It applies to all iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus smartphones that are having trouble turning on. According to the official statement, some components can "fail".

Apple has discovered that some iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus may not turn on due to component failure. This issue only occurs on a small sample of devices that were manufactured between October 2018 and August 2019.

The repair program is valid for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus phones within two years of their first purchase in a store. In other words, the device can be repaired free of charge until August 2021 at the latest, provided you purchased it this year.

The service program does not extend the standard warranty of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus

Apple offers on its website also checking the serial number, so you can find out if your phone is eligible for free service. You can find the site HERE.

If the serial number matches, head to one of the authorized services, where the phone will be repaired free of charge. Apple adds additional information:

Apple may limit or modify the list of countries where the device was first purchased. If you have already had your iPhone 6S / 6S Plus repaired at an authorized service center and the repair was charged, you are entitled to a refund.

This service program does not in any way extend the standard warranty provided on the iPhone 6S / 6S Plus device.
