Although speculation about the release of macOS 10.15 Catalina on Friday did not materialize, Apple ended up pleasing many. In addition to the newly released Golden Master version of the operating system, he also launched his Apple Arcade game service.

The original speculation was that a sharp version of the new operating system macOS 10.15 Catalina will be released this Friday, October 4. It was all based on a Danish website that, among other things, was talking about the fourth of October for the Apple Arcade service. The operating system as such did not come out in the end, but the service was indeed launched for all beta testers.

You need the last one to run Apple Arcade macOS 10.15 Catalina build in Golden Master release. After that, just head to the Mac App Store and you can enjoy the game service just like on iOS and iPadOS.

Apple Arcade on macOS Catalina

Apple originally promised a catalog of over 100 games, but in the end it started with a smaller number. However, titles are added every week, so we will surely reach the promised hundred soon. Apple also promised compatibility between iOS, iPadOS, tvOS and macOS.

Only some titles from Apple Arcade on Mac so far

So far, only a third of the entire catalog is available on Mac. Apparently, the developers still need time to port the Mac version of the games. Among those available, for example, are Sayonara Wild Hearts, Operator 41, Big Time Sports or Card of Darkness.

Native support for Xbox or Playstation 4 Dualshock controllers is newly built in, so you no longer need third-party controllers (Steam).

The entire Apple Arcade service costs CZK 139 per month and includes exclusive titles for the Apple platform. You won't find any micropayments or advertising in any game. In addition, Apple Arcade can be used as part of family sharing for the same price. The first month of service is completely free.
