On Friday evening, information appeared on the web that after a few years, a larger acquisition by Apple is again in the offing. According to the reports that several servers have come up with, including sites like TechCrunch or FT, Apple is taking a liking to the Shazam service. If you happen to be unfamiliar with it, it works on the same principle as the equally well-known Sound Hound. Thus, it is primarily used to recognize musical works, video clips, TV shows, etc. According to the information published so far, everything should be confirmed and published within the next few hours.

All the original sources are talking about the fact that Apple should pay for Shazam an amount that will be around 400 million dollars. This acquisition certainly does not come by chance, as the two companies have been cooperating intensively for several years. For example, Shazam is used to recognize songs via the Siri assistant, or it offers several applications for the Apple Watch.

In addition to Apple, however, Shazam is also integrated in Android platform applications and in some streaming services, such as Spotify. So if the acquisition really happens (the probability is roughly 99%), it will be really interesting to see how the service, now in the hands of Apple, will develop further. Whether there will be a gradual download from other platforms or not. Either way, it will be the biggest acquisition Apple has made since buying Beats. Only history will show how useful this move will prove to be. Do you use or have you ever used the Shazam app on your phone/tablet?
