With the arrival of the iPadOS 13.4 operating system, all users have finally received a great improvement in the form of mouse and trackpad support for the iPad. Apple then began to adapt some of its applications to the new functions. Among them, in addition to the iWork office package, there is also iMovie - a popular tool for creating and editing videos and clips. The latest iPadOS version of this native application from Apple has now received not only mouse and trackpad support, but also a number of other novelties.

In addition to the aforementioned functions, the latest version of iMovie for iPad also offers support for new keyboard shortcuts or support for new image formats. The full list of what's new in iMovie for iPad in its latest update can be found below:

  • A new way to make movies and trailers on iPads with a Magic Keyboard, mouse, or trackpad (requires iPadOS 13.4)
  • Hotkeys for switching between the five inspector modes while the clip is selected: Actions, Speed Changes, Volume, Titles and Filters
  • Keyboard shortcuts to quickly rotate video 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise
  • Click the Download All button above the audio track list to download all the grouped tracks at once
  • PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP files can be added to movies
  • Performance and stability improvements

Apple first introduced cursor support in September 2019 as part of an accessibility rollout that required manual activation. Since the release of the iPadOS 13.4 operating system, cursor support for the mouse and trackpad are now automatically supported by all iPads on which this version of the operating system is installed. At the same time, when introducing the new iPad Pro (2020), Apple also introduced a new Magic Keyboard with a built-in trackpad. It will be compatible with iPad Pros from 2018 and 2020, and should go on sale in May.
