Yesterday, there was a report that Apple should update the MacBook Air line of computers, even before WWDC, where it traditionally presents laptops. This news has finally been confirmed, and you can find the updated MacBook Air series in the Apple Online Store, which has received a faster Haswell processor. In addition, all computers from the Air series have become cheaper by 1000-1500 crowns.
Both the 11-inch and 13-inch models received an increase in speed, the frequency was increased from Intel Haswell Core i5 1,3 GHz to 1,4 GHz. Apple also gives different battery life values for new computers. When playing movies from iTunes, the value increased from 8 to 9 hours for the 11-inch model and from 10 to 12 hours for the 13-inch model. Custom configurations remained unchanged. Likewise, other specifications have not changed. The base model will still only offer 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. At least an increase in the basic operating memory would be a welcome change.
The second change is a pleasant price reduction. All MacBook Air models are now $100 cheaper, up to 1500 crowns in the Czech Republic. The basic 11-inch model now costs CZK 24 and the 990-inch model costs CZK 13. A major update to the series is expected this year, but the question is whether it will happen at WWDC like in previous years, or Apple will push it for today's update. The new models could get Intel Broadwell processors and a better screen with a higher resolution.
The battery life was like this before, if I'm not mistaken.
I'm thinking too, but I don't see...
Total endurance, yes. The improvement is only for video playback in iTunes.
And does this mean that the new Air with retina is about to drop and this step is supposed to help clear the warehouses, or on the contrary, that they are not doing well and the new model will be in the fall first? What is the prognosis?
I don't understand why everyone is going crazy and waiting for the retina 12 inch when the small one is 11,6 inch. Who knows what will happen. Maybe at WWDC they will announce that it will be retina, maybe they will announce it only next year…..rather I see it for next year….of course in that body scheisse flashlight + killer display. They would need a miracle to overcome the endurance of today's airs. U for sure...but u aira? :)
I wouldn't put retina in the Air. Maybe slightly increase the resolution that is there, but with regard to the long life of the retina, really no. I think a resolution around FHD would be more than enough.
I will still be prompted to replace it when 4GB of RAM is not enough for me, which in my case and using the Air will probably take a while.
Maybe someone could finally come up with bigger SSDs for 2013…..
The magic lies in the fact that they could do it, an even more economical processor, a more economical screen, a smaller battery, the need for less cooling... we'll see... But I understand the argument that part of the user would rather last 24 hours than the retina.
24 hours is perhaps a bit excessive, but gradually the technology will probably work towards that. It's true that I have the smaller Air, which has the same size as my previous thirteen, so I'm not complaining.
For me it was the primary weight and there 11 won. It's like a feather. Sometimes I check if I really have Air in my backpack :D
Rather, I'm hoping that technology will advance so that smartphones can last at least two days of heavy use or longer with less use, like the old phones did. :)
it's terrible, well, I have a work 2011 Pro and my 2013 Air and the Air is quite a bit faster, a bit more powerful and the weight - I won't even mention it.
Mr. Speaker, please learn Czech first, then use English names. Thank you in advance
I have a BTO MB Air 11" as one of the books. And I really don't understand what the Retina should do on it, the resolution is quite fine for such a display, I would understand the Retina at 13" and of course, it can be stuffed anywhere, but then I would probably, like Apple, he was considering whether to cancel Airy completely and leave some hybrid MBproAir retina 11″ and 13″. In my opinion, Airy and Pročka are already starting to cannibalize each other.
Retina on the Air would be nice, but it would undermine the MB Pro series with 13¨ retina. I don't know, but the retina on the Air doesn't make sense to me, either with regard to the Pro series or with regard to the technical possibilities in such a small body as the Air has.
exactly!!!!
