A report from the end of last week about the failed negotiations between Apple and Samsung has now been officially confirmed in court. The American technology giant really did not get along with the Korean one in February, but the top officials of both companies could not find common ground...

According to a document obtained by the court, representatives of Apple and Samsung met in the first week of February, their negotiations, which were also attended by an independent mediator, lasted all day, but did not reach a satisfactory result. So everything is moving towards the second big trial on American soil, which is scheduled for the end of March.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Chief Legal Officer Bruce Sewell, Chief Litigation Officer Noreen Krall and Chief Intellectual Property Officer BJ Watrous were present at the meeting. Samsung sent IT and Mobile Communications Executive JK Shin, Intellectual Property Chief Seung-Ho Ahn, US Intellectual Property Chief Ken Korea, Communications Executive Vice President and CFO HK Park, Injung Lee Licensing Chief, and Mobile Communications Licensing Chief James Kwak to the meeting.

Both parties were supposed to negotiate with an independent negotiator several times. Before they sat down at the table together, Apple held a teleconference with him more than six times, Samsung more than four times. Nevertheless, the two sides did not find common ground, which is not too surprising given the history.

Even before the first court proceedings on American soil in 2012, Apple and Samsung held similar meetings at the last minute, but even then they did not lead to success. There is more than a month left until the March proceedings and the independent negotiator will probably still be active, both sides are willing to continue to negotiate. However, an agreement can hardly be expected without a court as an arbitrator.
