The California Circuit Court already has from Apple and Samsung the final lists of devices and patents that will be at issue in the March trial, which each company or the other is alleged to be infringing. Both sides submitted a list of ten devices, Apple will then be sued for infringement of five of its patents, Samsung has only four...

The final list of devices and patents is considerably narrowed down from the original versions, as Apple and Samsung acceded to the request of Judge Lucy Koh, who did not want the case to be too monstrous. The original 25 patent claims and 25 devices became much shorter lists.

Samsung, however, thanks to Kohová's decision in January, which invalidated one of his patents, will wield only four patents, just like Apple, which has five of them left, but it will also build five patent claims on four patents. In terms of devices, both sides don't like the rival's ten devices, but again, these are not the latest products. The most recent ones are from 2012 and most of them are no longer sold or even manufactured. This just shows the very slow conduct of patent litigation in the United States.

However, the important thing is that any decision, whether it is current or older products, can create a fundamental precedent for future decisions in similar cases and specifically in the case of Apple vs. Samsung.
