Apple and the American conglomerate GE (General Electric) announced a collaboration on the development of applications for businesses. It is the next step in the integration of the iPad and the iPhone into the corporate world. In recent years, Apple has already started cooperation with companies such as SAP, Cisco, Deloitte or originally arch enemy of IBM. Now it's General Electric, which, in addition to owning the American NBC and Universal Pictures, does business in finance, energy and, above all, in the field of transportation technology.

GE will build applications for itself and its enterprise clients. Part of the collaboration will be a new SDK (Software development kit), which will see the light of day on October 26 and will allow iPhones and iPads to be connected to General Electric software called Predix, which collects and analyzes data from industrial equipment such as assembly robots or wind turbines.

“GE is the perfect partner with a rich history of innovation across industries such as aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare and energy. The Predix platform, combined with the power of the iPhone and iPad, will fundamentally change how the industrial world works.” commented on the new cooperation of CEO Apple, Tim Cook.

As part of the agreement, General Electric will deploy iPhones and iPads as standard among more than 330 employees across the organization and support the Mac platform as the ideal desktop solution. In return, Apple will begin supporting GE Predix as an IoT (Internet of Things) analytics platform for its customers and developers.

According to Tim Cook, almost all Fortune 500 companies are testing iPads in their factories. Apple sees a lot of room in the use of iOS products in enterprises, and its latest moves indicate big plans in this area.
