The software store for Apple products, the App Store, experienced a record Christmas. During the two weeks of the Christmas holidays, users spent over 1,1 billion dollars on applications and purchases in them, which translates to 27,7 billion crowns.

A record amount was also spent in a single day - on the first day of 2016, the App Store measured 144 million dollars spent. The previous record from the last Christmas Day did not last too long.

"The App Store had a record Christmas holiday," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “We are grateful to all the developers who create the most innovative and fun apps in the world for our customers. We can't wait to see what's to come in 2016.”

Other huge revenue from the App Store means that since 2008, Apple has paid out nearly $2010 billion to developers thanks to its software store of applications for iPhones and iPads (and since 40 for Macs). At the same time, the entire third was generated last year alone.

Apple claims the App Store has created nearly two million jobs in the United States alone, another 1,2 million in Europe and 1,4 million in China.
