The App Store offers a number of more and less useful applications for a wide range of user needs. A non-negligible part of this offer is also made up of applications for parents - whether for future, current or adept parents. In our new series, we will gradually introduce the best and most popular applications of this type. In the first part, we will focus on conception, pregnancy and childbirth.

PC for cycle tracking

Don't let the somewhat infantile appearance fool you. The application called Period Calendar is far from just a menstrual calendar, but it can also be used by those who follow their cycle more closely and try to conceive a child (or practice the method of "infertile" days). The application allows you to enter basic and more detailed data related to your cycle. You can then follow its development and regularities in clear graphs and tables. The range of symptoms, parameters and data that you can enter in the application is really very wide. In addition, PC also offers thematic discussion forums.

Glow Period (not only) for conception planning

The Glow Period application is similar to the aforementioned PC to record and track all phases and symptoms of the menstrual cycle. In the application, you can enter dozens of different parameters, based on which Glow Period will prepare documents for you, which you can follow when trying to conceive (or, conversely, not conceive). The application offers options for exporting entered data, informative materials and the opportunity to engage in discussions with other users.

Eve Period Tracker – the perfect overview of your cycle

Among the popular applications that are used to record and monitor the menstrual cycle is Eve. Just like the tools mentioned above, Eve can approximately predict the phases of your cycle, whether it is ovulation or the date of your period, based on the data you enter. It also offers the possibility of entering a wide range of symptoms, data and various notes. The Eve application also has a fun side in the form of quizzes, interesting facts and bonuses.

Pregnancy+ - pregnancy step by step

Have you successfully conceived a child and would like to be informed daily about what to expect when you are "expecting"? You can use the Pregnancy+ application for this. The application will regularly inform you about the progress of the pregnancy and what is most likely happening in your body at that moment. You can use it to record changes in your weight, enter notes about your doctor's visits or find inspiration in the name database. In the later stages of pregnancy, you can use the Pregnancy+ app to record your baby's movements or measure contractions. In addition, the application can be personalized for other family members.

Nutrimimi – Czech application for pregnant and new mothers

If you are looking for a Czech application for monitoring pregnancy and for the first days and weeks with a baby, you can try Nutrimimi. Its creators teamed up with leading Czech experts and created a tool that will guide you through pregnancy and living with a newborn week by week. In the application, you can enter changes in your weight during pregnancy, find out the necessary information about pregnancy, childbirth, but also nutrition and health care. New mothers can then use Nutrimimi to record their baby's feeding, recording how it grows and gains weight, but they can also use live chat with experts.

Wunderlist for creating a list for the maternity ward

Although the Wunderlist application is not primarily intended for pregnant women, you will definitely find a use for it. Wunderlist offers the ability to create a large number of different "tick-off" lists. In this way, you can gradually create a list of what you need to buy, what you need to pack for the maternity hospital, which medical examinations you should attend or what you should take home for the first days with the baby. Wunderlist also offers extensive options for sharing and collaborating on lists.

Contraction Timer - when the time is right

When H hour arrives, many mothers want to have a perfect overview of the intervals at which contractions occur. Fortunately, thanks to smart technologies, you no longer have to rely on your watch. You can conveniently and reliably enter contractions in the Contraction Timer application - just click on the appropriate button at the given moment. The application will then tell you whether you should go to the maternity hospital and tell you how to proceed and what to take with you. However, always consider the data from the application as indicative only, if necessary, consult your attending physician.

With all applications - whether for recording and monitoring the cycle, or for pregnant or new mothers - it is necessary to remember that these are only virtual aids. These applications are in no way meant to replace a professional. You cannot be 100% sure that you will actually get pregnant on the days that the app has marked as fertile for you, and vice versa. Likewise, your weight—or your child's weight—may differ slightly from the charts in each app. In turn, foreign applications can inform you about medical examinations that are common only in some regions at specific stages of pregnancy, but are not carried out in our country. So take everything these apps say with a grain of salt, and if you have any questions, contact your doctor.
