Recording audio, whether it's conversations or just personal notes, can sometimes be needed by anyone. Most of the time, an iPhone is enough for this, which will serve very well as a voice recorder, and it also has a default Voice Recorder application that will help with everything. But if you'd like something more, there's the Just Press Record app.
Those who often work with recordings, such as journalists or musicians, will want something more from a voice recorder, and thus want to have the greatest possible comfort. The advantage of Just Press Record lies in the fact that it is cross-platform, and also - as the name of the application suggests - records with a single press.
While the system Dictaphone can also record quickly on the iPhone, its support for other devices is already faltering. You can play Just Press Record not only on iPhone, but also on iPad, Watch and Mac. And what is key in this regard, flawless synchronization works between all devices via iCloud.
So in practice it works so that once you record anything on the iPhone, you can immediately play it on the Mac and continue working with the recording. It's the same with is Watch, on which you can record even without an iPhone, where the recordings will be saved after reconnecting and you can continue working with them again. Having a shared library on iCloud for all your recordings and not having to worry about where they are saved will certainly come in handy for many.
Recordings on iCloud Drive are automatically organized into folders by date, but of course you can name each one as you wish. On iOS, you browse folders directly in Just Press Record, on Mac the app takes you to the Finder and folders to iCloud Drive.
You can record on all devices immediately after launch. On the iPhone, recording can be immediately triggered via 3D Touch on the icon or via the widget, on the Watch via the complication, and on the Mac again via the icon in the top menu bar (or via the Touch Bar). Then when you launch Just Press Record, the big red record button dominates the app.
However, fast synchronization and operation on iOS, watchOS and macOS are not all that decorates Just Press Record. In iOS, this recorder can convert the spoken word into written text. If you will also dictate punctuation, you can have the text formatted correctly, but that usually won't be the main goal. The key thing when converting to text is that you can then search all your recordings directly in Just Press Record on iOS and search for the necessary recordings by keywords.
If you have a lot of recordings and need to work with them efficiently, speech to text can be a really invaluable tool. The converter works only on iOS (also in Czech without any problems), but if you need the transcription somewhere else, not only on Mac, you can easily share it from Just Press Record. After all, you can also share the entire recording if you need to outside of iCloud Drive. In the application on Mac, you can use advanced options in the field of recording technology.
Just Press Record for iOS, i.e. for iPhone, iPad and Watch, costs €5,49, and it's good to mention here another handy function that you can record even in the background when, for example, you need to search for something on your iPhone. You'll pay an additional €5,49 for the Just Press Record app for Mac, but many may not need it. If you record only on iOS, thanks to iCloud Drive you will have the same access to all recordings even without the application.

Looks interesting. What format are the iCloud recordings in? Can it pause for silence (or activate for sound)? Stereo? Until now, I used AudioMemos, which cannot convert to text.
On iCloud it's in .m4a. It probably can't activate the sound, and you can play stereo on a Mac, where it has more options in terms of input.
Can this app record an ongoing call?
No, iOS doesn't allow the app.
The biggest problem is I can't record the call. That makes the app useless Which I used to use a lot at work on android
Hello, I used this application for a while to record my thoughts, but I didn't like the fact that it wasn't translated into text... I want to ask - does anyone have any idea if there is an application where I could literally "press" a button on my watch and dictate Czech text (as in sms), and the text was sent automatically to a specific email without any further intervention/confirmation? ... if a developer happens to see this, I will gladly pay him for such an application, ...
Such a variant probably cannot even exist, some kind of interaction will always be necessary. On the Watch, the maneuvering space is quite limited, I can only think of dictating the text directly into the body of the e-mail and then sending it.
Well, yes, but I would have to open mail on the watch, select a new message, then dictate, then click on send,... - that is unfortunately just complicated,... :( But thank you for the response,...
Now it occurred to me that it should be possible to solve it very well via Workflow, which also works on the Watch. There you can choose exactly the actions you need. And everything should go by pressing a few buttons. https://workflow.is/on/your/wrist
If I'm wearing my watch and recording a conversation, where is the data stored? To the internal memory of AW or - if they are connected - to iCloud or iP? Thank you.
Apparently, the recordings should be stored in the internal memory of the Watch. Once connected to the iPhone, they are transferred via Bluetooth and uploaded to the cloud.
Please; where can I find the default Dictaphone application on the iPhone?
If you don't have it directly on your iPhone, you can download it from the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/cz/app/voice-memos/id1069512134?l=cs&mt=8
