Apple's strict regulations regarding the conditions for app approval in the App Store exclude the possibility of the presence of competing game services from companies such as Microsoft, NVIDIA or Google. This is evidenced by a recent Bloomberg report.

Players currently theoretically have a choice of game services not only from Apple, but also from Microsoft, Google or even NVIDIA. However, more than one billion owners of iOS and iPadOS devices are actually limited to Apple's Arcade service, which was officially launched last September. This is due to Apple's strict regulations, which greatly limit what applications can access its devices. For example, these regulations prohibit services based on cloud streaming. The Arcade service partially meets these requirements because it is part of the feature in the App Store. But critical voices claim that Apple is adapting the rules to favor its own apps.

Developer David Barnard said there is an ambivalent relationship between app developers and Apple. According to himself, he is extremely grateful for the App Store, but at the same time admits that the conditions set by the company are sometimes very demanding. The Bloomberg report aptly reminds that if developers want to offer their applications to the widest possible audience, they should not be absent from the iOS App Store. Game services based on streaming from the cloud are very popular among users - but they simply don't stand a chance on the App Store. Within these services, users can play popular titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Gears of War 5 or Destiny 2. Apple counters that applications that meet the conditions have their doors open in the App Store. He also adds that nothing prevents developers from making content available to users through mobile web browsers. But they do not allow the use of new cloud game services.

The company also insists that it's not trying to prioritize its apps over third-party software, and that its own software has plenty of competition on the App Store. But when it comes to game services like Apple Arcade, you can only find GameClub in the App Store, focused on retro old-school titles.
