In our small Czech Republic, we are used to the fact that we are not quite a priority market for Apple, and therefore it does not provide us with many functions that are available in the rest of the world and especially in the company's homeland, the USA. But with iOS 15, even its residents using Apple products found out what it's like to wait for something that Apple has announced but hasn't released yet.

Since Siri does not know Czech, we are forced to use it in one of the supported languages. But because there could be misinformation, Apple does not even offer the HomePod, which is closely related to this voice assistant, in the official Czech distribution. You can also get it in domestic e-shops, but it is an import. And then there are services for which we have also been waiting for quite a long time and still in vain. Of course it is Fitness+ or News+. We will probably never see the Apple Card.

Delays from the start

The American market is of course different in this respect. Apple is an American company and the United States of America is its main place of business. When it introduces a new service or feature, the US is always among the first countries supported. But with iOS 15, users there may experience the same frustration of waiting for newly arrived services that they still don't get, as we do in the middle of Europe.

When introducing iOS 15 at WWDC 2021, Apple promoted a whole host of new features for iPhone and iPad users. From SharePlay to Universal Control to Linked Contacts and more. In the end, some were "only" delayed by a few months, and we can now properly enjoy them in our country. The universal control has even reached its beta testing. But it's still not all that Apple presented and it didn't even get into the hands of the beta testers themselves.

Digital IDs in Wallet

Of course we can be calm. These are digital ID cards uploaded to the Wallet application. Although there are already certain voices that a similar solution could also await us, it will probably be a separate platform (similar to the eRouška), not a native Apple solution.

Support for storing digital IDs in Apple Wallet was first announced at WWDC 2021 by Apple Pay Vice President Jennifer Bailey. In the process, she emphasized that this is the last feature the Wallet app needs to allow you to "completely break free from a physical wallet." The feature was originally promised to arrive sometime in "late 2021," but was delayed back in November.

However, there is currently no official word on when the company might launch ID storage support in its title, although the website says the feature will launch sometime in "early 2022." Since iOS 15.4 is now in beta testing and shows no presence of support for this option, it is possible that Apple is keeping it for one of the next iOS updates.

However, the US Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, has already started to finally implement support for digital ID cards from February. But Apple does not have to be the target of criticism for not being able to bring support in time, because he may have everything really ready, but he is still waiting for support from the state. It can be expected that it will be a slow and rather complicated process, therefore, on the other hand, it cannot be assumed that this support will expand beyond the USA in the near future.
