The American Consumer Report released the final version of its iPhone X review, in which he analyzes everything essential that is found in the news. Thanks to the completed testing, the editors were able to include it in their list, which is dominated by the ten best phones, which is compiled on the basis of their testing. It was expected that the iPhone X would make it to the TOP 10, but quite surprisingly, it did not end up on the top spot. According to Consumer Report, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and this year's flagships from Samsung do a bit better.
Of course, the iPhone X also received a "recommended" rating. However, the authors of the tests had two major problems with the new product, which put it behind the "cheaper" iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models. The first is reduced resistance. Consumer Report conducts several tests that try to get as close as possible to the possible pitfalls of reality. One of them is the so-called tumble test (see video), where the iPhone is placed in a special rotating device that simulates small falls to the ground. One of the tested iPhone X suffered a cracked back after about 100 rotations, other models showed permanent defects in the display function. The iPhone 8/8 Plus passed this test with only minor scratches.
Consumer Report's director of testing confirmed that if the iPhone X had performed better in these durability tests, it would have leapfrogged its cheaper sibling in the final rankings. Susceptibility to damage, however, according to their tests and methodology, is demonstrably higher than for previously introduced models.
The second negative thing that came to mind during testing is the battery life. According to testing, it does not last as long as in the case of the competing Samsung Galaxy S8. As part of special testing, the iPhone X lasted nineteen and a half hours, while the S8 reached twenty-six hours. The iPhone 8 then lasted twenty-one hours. On the contrary, the iPhone X achieved the absolute best result of all the tested phones in the camera tests. The overall appearance of recommended mobile phones according to Consumer Report looks like the Galaxy S8 and S8+ models are in the first two places, followed by the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The iPhone X is in ninth place, but the difference between first and ninth is only two points.

For me, the iPhone X was the clear choice, touch ID got on my nerves, I had it deactivated last year (I used 5S until now)
You can't compare touch ID 5s with, for example, touch ID on the iPhone 7. Own experience. It's really at the limit of usability on the 5S. At 7 it's absolutely great. I have no reason to change to a glass iPhone like the 4/4S. But I understand your enthusiasm (5s/x), it's like climbing from a Škoda into an Audi :)
I have a 7+ in my family and if my hands are sweaty then bad luck, this bothered me..
It's not great. It doesn't work if a person's finger is slightly wet
Such tests are complete nonsense. I don't buy a phone to dribble with. ? Comrades have to make a living somehow.
Hm, it can also be read that iPhone X users who never break it or carry it in a case (or with a sticker), which will probably be the vast majority, actually made the best choice this way. More than ten iPhones have been used in our family, exceptionally some with cases, but not a single one has ever broken. Of course, they weren't iPhone X, except for one now.
