Apple remains the largest smartphone maker in the United States, the company's latest data showed comScore measured over the last quarter. As Apple maintains its supremacy in the field of hardware, rival Google's Android remains the most widely used operating system.

According to data from an analytical firm comScore had 43,6% of iPhone users in the United States in the most recent quarter, which ended in September. The second Samsung is significantly behind with its smartphones, currently holding 27,6% of the market. The share of the third LG was 9,4%, Motorola had 4,8% and HTC 3,3%.

Only LG, however, recorded growth compared to the previous quarter, namely by 1,1 percentage points. Both Apple and Samsung fell by half a percentage point.

As expected, iOS and Android dominated the operating systems, but although iPhones are by far the most used in the United States, there are more Android smartphones in total. 52,3 percent of users have the platform from Google on their phones, iOS 43,6 percent. While Android grew by seven-tenths of a percentage point, Apple's operating system fell by half a percentage point.

Microsoft (2,9%), BlackBerry (1,2%) and Symbian (0,1%) stood their ground. According to comScore data, over 192 million people in the United States currently own a smartphone (over three-quarters of the mobile phone market).
